Cannot use Google Nest Mini 2nd gen - cannot choose music or video services

Hello,

(i also tried to contact with you by Contact us but on the 3rd step i've got - something went wrong. Clever)

Anyway, few days ago i bought google nest mini 2nd gen and it worked fine. I've also added an another contact to 'home'. Both of us linked spotify, yt and netflix in the services. Maybe it's important but both of us uses iPhones (12 and 15 version with the recent updates on)

The very next day it stoped working. While asking 'Hey google, play ... using spotify or yt' it said that we need to link that apps in Google Home app. Okay then, we tried but in the app we do not have any option to link those app.

Under Linked Apps i've got - No partner apps linked to this home

Under Video - Avaiable on Google Assistant Speakers, iOS10+ and Android 6+ TVs.

Under Music - No default - Use other account's preferences on shared devices.

Me and my partner do not have any other options to link those app for music or video.

I've set language for English US, English UK (tried different options) - none of them worked.

I've factory reset the speaker, two times actually, it didnt work as well.

And at this point im really cannot use that speaker as it was intended, right now it only cast music from TuneIn radio or yt music but we cannot share our spotify or podcasts from YT to that device.

At this point i really regret that i bought that speaker, it was cheap tho but cmon.

Any advice?

Hi @sn0w,

Thank you for reaching out. I'm sorry to hear that you can't choose music or video services on your Google Nest Mini 2nd gen. I understand how frustrating it is when a new device that was working perfectly fine suddenly stops performing its core functions. I'm glad to help you.

I appreciate your effort in performing some troubleshooting steps. Can you please confirm if you've tried to link your music apps using the steps below?

  • Make sure your mobile device or tablet is connected to the same WiFi network or linked to the same account as your speaker or display.
  • Open the Google Home app.
  • Tap your account.
  • Verify that the Google Account shown is the one linked to your Google device. If it's correct, tap Close to exit the account window. To switch accounts, tap the drop down and then select another account or Add another account.
  • Tap the > to close the account window.
  • Tap Settings.
  • Under "Services," tap Music.
  • To choose your default service, tap the music service you'd like to use. Assistant will use this service when you say, “Hey Google, play music.”
  • If your music service isn't listed, make sure you've downloaded the app and signed in.
  • Under More music services, you can link and unlink other available services. Tap a service to link or unlink it.

Hope this helps, and please let us know if you have any other questions.

Regards,

Gabriela
