Cant set an alarm

Pugwash

My nest will not set an alarm when asked with the ok google or from a routine. It understands correctly and repeat the command correctly but reponds that it doent know how to do that and gives me options it does when it doesn't know how to do something, in this case "set timer" or "set 10 minute timer" and then when I select any of them, it again responds that it "doesn't know how to help"!!!

Worked OK yesterday

Hi folks,

@Pugwash, awesome — glad to hear that your issue is fixed. May you share with us what steps you've taken for this to be resolved?

@Omnihapi, i'm sorry to hear that you're having concerns with setting an alarm and timer using your Nest device. A few questions: what Nest device do you have? What is the exact response when you're setting an alarm/timer? It would help a lot if you could do a sequential reboot first:

  1. Unplug the power cord of your router followed by your Nest speakers.
  2. Plug them back in after 3 minutes tops.
  3. Restarting your phone might also help.

Set the desired timer or alarm as a test using the following commands:

  • Timer: “Hey Google, set a timer for XX min” (“Hey Google, set a timer for 1 min”).
  • Alarm: “Hey Google, set an alarm for XX” (Hey Google, set an alarm for 3 PM”).

Confirm if your speaker or display recognized the question correctly:

  1. Ask your speaker or display to “Repeat the question.” Note: This will repeat the last question you asked.
    1. If it isn't repeated correctly, ask the question once more.
      1. If it still isn't recognizing the question, speak slower or try another question and have your speaker or display repeat the question to verify it was understood correctly.

Tell us how it goes.

Best,

Dan
