Cast notifications are missing

I've just realised that the cast notifications on mine and my wife's Pixel 6a's are not appearing.

These are the notifications that show what music or video is playing on a Nest Mini or Hub.

I don't know when they disappeared, but I find them useful and would like to turn them back on. However I expect that this is probably a feature that Google has removed.

Same issue for me for the last several months on my Pixel 8. I've confirmed notification settings are set appropriately and no luck. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the Home app as well. Very frustrating as I used these notifications religiously when members of my family are casting and I'd like to quickly stop music or adjust volume.

This must have been in the last week or so for us, I remember seeing it and using it to stop the music.

To gather more information, I'd like to ask a question:

 

  • Which apps don't you receive cast notifications for?

I also suggest the following:

 

  • Make sure you have the latest version of the Google Home app and your phone's software.
  • Ensure your mobile device or tablet is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your speaker or display or linked to the same account.
  • Change notification settings to the ones you used during the initial setup of your product. You can refer to the next article: Change Nest notification settings.
  • To check or change cast notification settings, you can go to the following link: Cast media control notifications.
  • Turn on Nest display notifications if they are off. You can use this article: Turn Nest displays notifications on or off.

Hello @jenniffert 

I have Version 3.15.1.4 of the Google Home app installed, which was updated on the 16th April.

The notifications that are missing are from when I ask the speaker to stream music. The service that plays the music can be either YouTube Music, TuneIn or Rayo (I think that's how it is spelled).

Both my wife and I haven't changed any settings, so it must be something that has changed in the update.

@jenniffert I have done so. Whilst in the settings for the speaker I rebooted it. The notifications returned! But then disappeared after a couple of minutes.

I appreciate your efforts to isolate the issue and your feedback. To continue troubleshooting, consider performing a factory reset on one of your Nest devices and see if the behavior persists. Remember, this will erase all your settings and return the device to its defaults. You can find instructions here: Factory reset Google Nest or Home speakers or displays.
