I'm trying to cast photos from Google Photos to my Nest Hub....but it won't do it. The option appears when I hit the cast button in Google Photos, but they do not cast. The screen flickers briefly, then returns to the Photo frame.

I have the same issue. I wonder if this option once existed and now is discontinued. I am able to cast YouTube videos from my phone, so casting works there but looks like not with Google Photos. It would be great if that was confirmed.

Hey all,
I am sorry to hear you are still having issues with casting photos to your device. I understand this is not an ideal situation. I did find an article with more details. Please let me know if that helps resolve the issue, or if you are still experiencing the problem.

Thank you Jake. The article is just focused on the functions of Google photos. What we are looking for is related to casting to a nest display when you cast from anywhere where one of the display to options happens to be a nest display. This is still broken.

Hey folks,
That certainly hasn’t been easy for you.
A few more questions: what phone are you using in casting your Google Photos? Also, are you using the 1st Gen Nest Hub or 2nd Gen? If you're using iOS devices you cannot cast on Google Nest Hub (1st gen). If not, try uninstalling and reinstalling your Google Photos app.
Let us know how it goes.
Best,
Alex

That probably explains it. Not sure how to tell what generation my Nest hub is. Bust since I purchased it Dec 2019 I am guessing it is Gen 1. Is there any other way to tell? The phone is an iPhone XR and can it can actually cast a You Tube video from the phone to the Nest Gen 1 Hub. Looks like it cannot do photos then.
Thank you Azarco, where are these limitations documented on the Google support pages?

Hey rrod,
We appreciate your patience. The Nest Hub (1st Gen) has a thin bezel around the entire front. While this information is not stated on our support pages, we'll always be looking for ways to improve and we'll take it as feedback. As an alternative, you can add your favorite photos to Google Photos and display them in your Google Nest Photo frame. Check this guide for more information.
Best,
Alex

Thank you Alex. The main reason I would have used the cast from photos feature was to easily search and pick a specific photo on the phone and show that to a group of people on a nest display instead of passing around my phone. Appreciate your responses to confirm t to his is not supported with my device.
