At night I play podcasts on my Android phone using Google Podcast. I will select the podcast on my phone and set a sleep timer, then cast it to my Nest Hub.
Recently I have noticed I will awake to the podcast still playing beyond the set sleep timer. Looking at my phone, I notice that the phone is no longer controlling the podcast. The Home app is now playing the podcast and does not recognize the sleep option. The other issue is that when I want to play the rest of the podcast on my phone the next morning, Google Podcast shows the progress as when it handed off control to Home.
This behavior has only started recently. Why can't my phone continue to be in control of Google Podcast?

Try casting your podcast to your hub. Now tell the Hub to set a sleep time for the desired time. Podcast syncing has been a long requested feature that is supposed to be available in the near future.
