Centre button not responding

MiaGourlay1996

I was trying to reset my device however the centre “button” was not responding. I reset it using the cable removing method instead. Now the device is connected to my Google Home App. Everything else seems to be working fine, volume buttons up and down are responsive, voice activation is responsive. Tapping the centre however does nothing.

Hi there,

Thanks for reaching out here in the community! I understand that the center button of your device is unresponsive, even after you reset it using the cable method and connected it to the Google Home app. I appreciate your efforts in trying to solve this situation and for verifying that the volume buttons and voice activation are working fine. No worries, I can definitely help you with this!

To better investigate this situation, I’d like to ask for the following information:

  • What is the model of your device?
  • When did the center control first become unresponsive?
  • Was the device dropped or knocked over at any point?

Once I have this information, we can determine the best next steps to get this resolved.

Best regards,

Jenniffer

Hi Jennifer,

After doing another hard reset and leaving my Google Nest Audio speaker off for about 5 minutes the middle button started working again.

As far as I know the speaker had not been knocked or damaged but we have recently moved home (on 10th October 2025) so something could have happened in transit?

Thank you for responding.

Regards.

Hi @Stonealive,

Thanks for following up on the case and for sharing this update! It’s great news that the middle button on your Google Nest Audio is working again after the hard reset.

I know you're wondering if the recent move could have impacted the device. It's possible that the fact that the device was unplugged, moved, and then reconnected to a different power source could cause a temporary glitch, but I'm glad that the issue was resolved.

If the issue returns in the future or you notice any other unexpected behavior, please don't hesitate to post again.

Keep me posted.

Best regards,

Jenniffer
