Changing a Name of a Household Member

I set up my Google Home System in my small office and recently hired a new employee.  I was able to add him to the "home" and get his voice recognition set up, but the system keeps calling him "person" instead of by his name.  Is there any way to correct it manually? I could probably delete him as he is now, put him in my phone as a contact and then he'd populate with his name. Not sure if that's the correct path or if there's an easier way.  Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions.

Thanks for reaching out — let’s see what’s going on.

 

Is your employee using a regular Google Account? If so, ask him to check if his name is set up properly under his profile. Also, when he sets up his voice match, is he using his phone? Give these steps a try:

 

  1. Make sure he uses his correct Google Account in the Google Home app.
  2. Try reinstalling his Google Home app.
  3. Make sure his mobile phone is connected to the same network where your Google Home speakers are connected.

Still haven’t had a chance, but it’s not the end of the world, he can still use the assistant voice commands it just thinks it’s me…

Hey there Fortyhalf,

 

Have you had the chance to do the steps above? If so, how was it?

 

You can try to remove your employee and re-add as a home member. Here’s how to remove:

 

  1. Open the Google Home app.
  2. Switch to the home you want to edit.
  3. Tap Settings > Household.
  4. Tap the home member you want to remove.
  5. At the top right, tap Remove.

 

Once done, see this guide for more information and troubleshooting when adding home members.
