Connect Google Nest Hub to Apple's Airport Express

Hi,

My mother in-law was using her iPhone to control music throughout her house speakers via Airplay on her phone and connecting to the Airport Express devices in the media cupboard.

She has now moved across to an android phone so I am wanting to know if it can be used to control the Airport Express devices either via her Android Phone or a Google Nest hub?

Hello @GioAbb

Thanks for posting in the community.
I understand how convenient it was for your mother-in-law to control her music with an iPhone using AirPlay and Airport Express. Unfortunately, AirPlay is a proprietary Apple technology designed specifically for Apple devices. This means it's not compatible with Android devices or Google Nest Hubs.

I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. I understand that this change might disrupt your usual routine.

  1. Potential Alternatives:
Third-Party Multi-Room Audio Systems: Explore third-party multi-room audio systems that support both Android and iOS devices. These systems often offer similar functionalities to AirPlay and can be controlled from various devices.
  2. Dedicated Music Streaming Services: Many music streaming services like Spotify and Tidal offer their own multi-room audio solutions. These might be a suitable alternative, depending on her music preferences.

Google would also appreciate your feedback about this feature that is not compatible, so please share your feedback on this link: Feedback link. Thank you.

Regards,
Jorge
