Cracking and popping sound on google nest mini

Hi there,

Has anybody had the above issue with a google nest mini where some cracking and popping occurs whenever audio is being played? It’s annoying as it’s in my son’s bedroom, as he likes to have mindfulness stories playing to fall asleep to and in the background when he’s in bed, and it is obviously not conducive to sleep or relaxing with strange sounds interrupting you! 

I tried switching it off the other day to see if that might work, but haven’t yet had the chance to do a reset, which has been suggested in previous posts where similar issues have been raised.

We have another mini speaker in my husband’s office which we could swap with, but I wondered if this is an issue not with the speaker but wifi/router issues…

This is not the experience that we wanted you to have, let me help you out. A few things: when did your issue begin? Is the cracking and popping sound happening only when playing music or does it occur even when it's answering inquiries? Was your Nest Mini dropped or bumped? 

 

There are a lot of factors that might have caused this issue. You can do the swapping since you have another Nest Mini to isolate the issue. A factory data reset is another way to troubleshoot to put back your Nest Mini to its default setting and set it up again as a new device. Check the steps below on how to do it.

 

Here’s how to do the reset, on the side of your Google Nest Mini, switch the mic off. The LEDs will turn orange. Press and hold the center of your Nest Mini, where the lights are on top. After 5 seconds, your Google Nest Mini will begin the factory reset process. Continue to hold for about 10 seconds more until you hear a sound confirming your Google Nest Mini is resetting.
