Need Help Google Nest Hub 2.0 & Xiaomi Mi Air Purifier 3H "Sorry I Don't Understand"

Hello, Recent problem Google Assistant March app 2.65.16 and a 2021 Xiaomi Mi Air Purifier 3H & Samsung Galaxy S9 with all the new security patches and software updates available. The voice Command Hey Google "Set Air Purifier To Favorites" is no longer working. Google Assistant keeps repeating "Sorry I Don't Understand" when trying to issue this voice command.

The Google Assistant app and the other Voice Air Purifier android voice commands worked pretty flawlessly until now. For example, if I issue by voice the other voice commands for the air purifier such as "turn off air purifier", "turn on air purifier", and "set air purifier to sleep" all still work by issuing the correct voice command.

The problem just started recently within the last few weeks. I have the Xiaomi MI Home app updated and installed correctly. I tried all of the normal stuff such as restarting my phone, checking for new updates, cleared cashe and data in the Google services app and the Xiaomi MI Home app and all other Google and Xiaomi related apps. I also turned on permissions in all of the apps to make sure everything could communicate. I double checked and logged into and checked the functioning of the Xiaomi Account and app and Google Assistant and app and turned off and restarted my phone. I checked and restarted my Verizon router.

Oddly enough, I have a Google Nest Hub Gen 2 in another room. If I give be Google Nest Hub 2 the voice command from the main hub home screen to "set the air purifier to favorites" I get the same "sorry I don't understand" voice response. BUT if I actually go to the air purifier device page in the Google Nest Hub and give the voice command it works perfectly. I can see the little dot in the app and screen change to any of the air purifier voice commands that I choose.

I know other people were having problems with the "sorry I don't understand" with other apps.

Does anyone know how to fix this Google Assistant problem?

I'm disabled and I rely one voice commands for everything. And I am Google Assistant android Based.

It seems to me that this is a Google issue.

Thanks, Joseph

I have tried the following which I have found on the forum below. No luck…

You can also change the device name:

Make sure your mobile device or tablet is linked to the same account as your speaker or display.
Open the Google Home app.
Touch and hold your device's tile.
At the top right corner, tap Settings > Device information > Device name.
Enter a new name > tap Save.

Renaming the room could help:

Open the Google Home app.
At the top, select the home with the room you want to rename.
Touch and hold the room name you want to change.
Tap Settings > Name > enter a name > tap Save.

Hey jzlako2001,

Thanks for sharing details about the issue here - we appreciate your efforts. I know how challenging it is when you're having issues controlling your Xiaomi Mi Air Purifier. Let's go ahead and try to unlink and re-link your Mi account from the Google Home app. These will help us refresh the connection of your devices.

To Unlink:

  1. Open the Google Home app.
  2. Select your purifier and then settings (gear icon) > Unlink (Home Automation Partner) > Unlink.

To Link:

  1. Open the Google Home app.
  2. At the top left, tap Add > Set up device > Works with Google.
  3. Select the manufacturer of the device from the list.
  4. Follow the in-app steps to complete linking.
  5. Ask your Google Nest Hub to sync all your devices before trying to control your air purifier.

Let me know how it goes.

Cheers,

Muddi

Well thank you very much for your reply and help. I was able to get my air purifier to once again work with Google Assistant. I followed your instructions and logged in once again with a fresh login. However, while using my Google Nest 2.0, I noticed while trying to give my air purifier voice commands, that the actual voice command is "Hey Google, Set Air Purifier To Favorite" singular. I can see the actual voice command I should use displayed on the Google Nest display. Apparently, I was using the plural voice command "Hey Google" Air Purifiers plural. So apparently it was a voice commands syntax error on my part. I was able to see this while looking at my Google Nest 2.0 display screen as it changed commands. I typically use my Samsung Galaxy S9 for working with the air purifier.  A small change in my voice command phrasing made all the difference!

Once again, thank you for taking the time to try to answer my question!

Hey jzlako2001,

Sweet! Happy to hear that re-linking your Xiaomi account from the Google Home app resolved the issue and thanks for keeping me in the loop. I agree that a small change on command will affect how your device works, so we always suggest be more specific and clear on giving a voice command to your device.

Let me know if you still have questions and concerns otherwise, I'll be locking this thread after 24 hours.

Cheers,
