Does not play music after upgrade to Youtube Premium on Nest speaker for 2 of 3 family members

When I order Google Nest or Mini to Play Music "Play Music" he does not do it for 2 family members. Their google assistant accounts is linked to youtube (no option to link it to youtube music). For my account is the same setting (linked to youtube - no other option) but my account seems to be linked to youtube music in the background so when I order "play music" it opens Youtube Music Player on my phone and it plays music on the nest speakers.

I did recently an upgrade from Youtune Music Premium to Youtube Premium for the whole family.

I tried a lot which did not work:

I changed the Option on Music Services to None (to other in Group).

I readded the family mebers to my home in Goggle Home (where could set the service to youtube music - but with no effect - the link in Google assistant behind the scenes seems to more powerful )

Same on the phones - on my phone -"play music" starts youtube music on the 2 others youtube starts playing  -

How can I link all three to YouTube music, at least on Google Home ?

Hi Ha-Jo,

Thanks for posting — let's get this sorted out.

To play YouTube music using Google Home devices, we should use the email link to the YouTube subscription in the Google Home app. That goes the same when adding a household member. To confirm, did you invite the email address their YouTube subscription is linked to? Make sure as well that the Google Home devices are assigned in a room within each member’s Google Home app.

Kind Regards,
Alex

Hello,

I did this twice. I think now that Google Home and Nest are not cause of the problem.

I figured out the the problem has to be in the settings of the Google Assistant - because the problem is on every device. Even on a mobile phone or tablet the two accounts open Youtube app instead of YoutubeMusic.

On all three accounts the setting is the same (to YouTubeMusic App) but two accounts open Youtube and one opens YoutubeMusic (and this one works on Nest).

Regards,

Ha-Jo

Hello Ha-Jo,

Thanks for the information. Have you tried including the Youtube/YouTube music to the command and see if it works?

  • “Hey Google, play [song/video] on YouTube.”
  • “Hey Google, play [song] on YouTube music.”

Sincerely,
Alex

Hello,

thanks for this idea.

I already tried this with no sucess.

It opens the App via Assistant Command (Open YouTube Music) but after Play Music it ignores which app it should take.

My workaround is to remove the two not working accounts frim Google Home, so they are using my Account without Voice Recognition and their music - but at least they have some music.

Regards.

Hello,

problem is fixed!

Without changing anything on my side everything works since today perfectly again!

I guess google had some changes on Assistant going on in the background and fixed the problem (yersterday in the evening Assistant wasn´t working at all and the settings for assistant changed the last days without any app updates)
