Doesn't sync my Youtube Music playlists

Scwede

So, had my Google Nest forever but never sought help for this issue. For some reason, it cannot find my Youtube Music playlists. In particular, every time I ask for the default "my liked songs" playlist, for some reason it only plays one song, then ends. Now that one song is a song that I have liked in the past, but it's one of approx 600 songs in that playlist. All I can assume is that it has a different "liked songs" playlist, but that is not available to me in the Youtube Music app or site. It's almost as if the Google Nest, despite being linked to the same email address, has a different version of me which it is pulling Youtube Music info from, despite I have only ever used one account for my music.

Would be amazing if there was a fix to this, because I'd love the convenience of not asking it to just play random music.

So, good/bad news! I resolved the issue. I had to go into my Youtube account settings, and basically even though my "Scwede" account was the "Default", it still wasn't the "main" account, so to speak. So I had to merge Scwede with Main, which made the Google Nest catch up... however it wiped all my saved recommendations, playlists, liked songs etc. Thankfully I was able to dig around through playlists and histories and manually re-add all 800 something songs, but it has massacred my algo on both youtube music and youtube itself. NOT HAPPY, but the Nest is back working.

Long story short, if you have multiple youtube channels in your account, be very careful which you use for youtube music. Anything other than the first one made (even if you set it to default) will NOT be the default for the Google Nest's use of Youtube Music.

Hi Scwede,

Thanks for visiting the Community.

Sorry to hear about this experience. Since you've mentioned that it is working good before, I'd like to ask if there are any changes made on your YouTube Music account before you notice this. Also, could you please ask your Google Nest speaker, "OK Google, play music from my library". Let me know its exact response so we can try some steps.

Keep me posted.

Best,

Princess

Apologies but I never said it worked in the past. It hasn't. As long as I've had the nest, whenever I say "Play my liked songs" it plays one song, then ends. That one song IS a song that I liked but it should be one of several hundred.

Okay, so I just tried "play music from my library" and that is more accurate to my Music. Starts randomly and has also included some songs I haven't ever liked, but it is more in line with songs I have. But still if I say "Play my liked songs" it will reply "Sure music from your playlist "Your likes" and plays just one song, then says no other songs exist. Also any other playlists I created cannot be found, even those with quite specific or easily pronounced names.

Hey Scwede,

Understood. Do you have a YouTube premium subscription? Also, make sure your personal results is on and you set up/ turn on your Voice Match.

Keep us posted!

Thanks,

Alex

Yup, I have Youtube Premium, and both Personal Results and Voice match are on, yes.

Hey Scwede,

Thanks for the details. Could you try liking one song using these commands "OK Google, I like this song or Thumbs up,”? Then, try using the commands "Play my liked songs," "Play my liked music," or “Play my thumbs up” to see if it works. Resetting your Google Nest speaker might help too.

Alex

Hi Scwede,

It's me again. Did the suggested commands above help? Also, have you had the chance resetting your Nest speaker?

So, I reset the Nest, no luck, it's most certainly an account issue. It appears to have another "your likes" playlist that is not visible to me. It's genuinely bizarre. It has "Cold little heart" by Michael Kawanuca as the only song on it, and when I did the above command, it added another song onto it. It now has 2 songs on it. And yet, when I go into Youtube Music, I have like 800 songs on my likes. There is a clear disconnect between what the Nest considers my Youtube music info, and what my phone/PC consider my Youtube music info. Whenever I log in to any other platform, it gives me my proper Youtube music info. Via the Nest, it seems to have either created a new account (still under the same Gmail), or it refuses to sync my info.

Hello Scwede,

Yikes! Could you try clearing the cache and data of your YouTube Music app then, reinstall it? Checking your phone's device settings might help too. Once done, try resetting your Google Nest speaker.

Alex

Hey Scwede,

Still need our help? Did clearing the cache and data of your YouTube Music app help?

Unfortunately nothing helped, however I suspect I may have found something, but I don't believe it's fixable...

So a long time ago, I created two channels in my Youtube account. 1 is seemingly my "main" one, but it isn't the one I've used, fundamentally (let's call it Dave). I have consistently used my second, (let's call it Scwede). The third is a podcast channel I haven't really touched. Now everything, and I mean everything I have done has been in Scwede. Every youtube video I have watched and liked, every youtube music song I have liked, playlist I've made. However, I think Youtube Music defaults to my Dave account, and I see and can find absolutely no way to "switch channel". They're all under my same email address, but I believe (can't prove it...) that the Nest only ever touched the Dave account and cannot get my main info from what I consider my main account, Scwede.
