Dual Personalities

Ares
Community Member

I recently changed the voice of my google display. Since I've changed it I noticed something weird. Mostly it does it with the alarms but it has at time done it at other times. When I ask it what alarms I have it responds with the new voice that there are no alarms (even though several might be on). Now if I ask to set an alarm that should be active lets say. "Hey Google, set an alarm for noon". Google will respond in the old voice that an alarm for noon is already set.  If I say right after that "Hey Google what is my nest alarm"  the new voice will  respond with no alarms are set.  Plus there are other times that Google will just respond in the old voice set. Any ideas why google has developed multiple personalities?

@Ares

For several months, Google Assistant has been responding with different voices. Numerous customers have reported the issue in this forum, and Google Nest says they know about the issue.

Hi Ares,

This is not the experience we want you to have, let me help you. A few questions: which Nest speakers are we working with along with your routines? When did your issue begin? Were there any recent changes made? Is it only happening when an alarm is triggered?

It would help a lot if you could do a sequential reboot first:

  1. Unplug the power cord of your router, followed by your Nest speakers.
  2. Plug them back in after 3 minutes.
  3. Restarting your phone might also help.

Once done, try to replicate the issue by giving other basic commands or asking general questions. Let me know how it goes.

Thanks for helping, MplsCustomer.

Best,

Dan
