Error completing setup

When adding a Gen2 Nest Mini to the house, the device connects to the Wi-Fi but then errors out at the last step, "Something went wrong. Your device might be connected but could not contact the iPhone" and so we cannot finish the setup. My gen1 mini connected just fine. I have done a factory reset. I have disabled and enabled the Wi-Fi. I have ensured that Home has local network access, etc. This is most frustrating.

@danielgalant

Do you by any chance have more than one Wi-Fi network in your home, and is your phone connected to the same Wi-Fi network to which you connected your Nest Mini?

You could also try temporarily relocating your Nest Mini closer to a Wi-Fi access point to see if that makes a difference.

The devices are connected to the same WiFi network and I tried doing the setup right next to the router. Same result. As i mentioned, the Gen1 Mini connected with no problem.

Hi danielgalant,

Help is here! I understand how frustrating it can be when your Nest Mini is not working properly. Do not worry, I am here to help you troubleshoot the inconvenience! Here is what you can do, After you make the factory reset please check if your Nest Mini appears on the app if it appears please remove the device and follow these steps.

  1. Open the Home app.
  2. Tap Favorites or Devices.
  3. Tap the device you want to remove from your home.
  4. Tap Settings> Remove device>  Remove.

And then try to add your Nest mini on the app again.

I hope this help!

Regards,

Manuel.
