Error message that speaker isn’t in my account

Every time I try to broadcast to a display or floor group of hub gen 2 or hub max is says that speaker isn’t in my account, i.e “there isn’t anything named basement in your account, so I can’t broadcast your message”. This feature was working fine until a few days ago.  Broadcasting to my mini speakers still works, but only if I name the speaker specifically, so broadcasting to the “main floor” generates the same error message.
I’ve unplugged and rebooted all the displays. I also rebooted the internet.
I couldn’t find any help online and I’m very frustrated to have lost this feature. Hopefully it’s just a bug in an update or something?

I would try removing the hub from your home and re adding it, let me know if that works !

I tired removing it, but couldn’t get it to reconnect to my home, so I did a factory reset. I changed the name of it to a single word and it’s working, but when I tried naming it “John’s Room”, it stopped working. When I changed it back to “John” it was fine.
I still can’t broadcast to all the speakers in my second floor group by say “broadcast to second floor”. I get the same message “sorry it looks like there isn’t anything named second floor in your account, so I can’t broadcast your message”.

Ah yes, try not to name a speaker with the location(room, den, etc) but actually designate locations in your app.

For the grouping.. make a group for all speakers on the 2nd floor and name it something like "upstairs speakers" and see if that works.

Just to clarify.. my kitchen speaker is called screen box , and it's location is kitchen.. so when I say play on kitchen display it still works.

Thanks for your help, I just don’t understand why everything worked find for the last two years, but then within the last week it all stopped working

Hello GhettoTech9000,

Thanks for posting in the community!

Thank you very much for all the information you've shared with us, @Ashepherdson. As mentioned above, when you name the speakers or displays, it is better to keep it simple and specific. Complex names can sometimes cause the Google Assistant not to recognize them.

This also happens with the room's names. When you name a room just "kitchen" or "garage", the system will recognize that in that room there's a device where you can broadcast.

By following these tips, you should experience smoother broadcasting functionality. If you have more questions, feel free to reply to this post. I'll be happy to assist further.

Best regards,

Nery.

Thanks for your reply, I appreciate your time.  Everything was working fine until a week or two ago. Now it doesn’t recognize my rooms, like “attic”, it says there’s nothing in my account named that. I’m just going to try renaming anything.
