Favorite radio station suddenly won't play - Melbourne Australia

Robbo9
Community Member

Have been listening to Triple M FM Melbourne for a year with out issue.  Suddenly today it plays a different station from what I'm asking for.  After a little investigating, I find that radio stations that are linked to either iHeart and Tunein are being played, but nothing via the Listnr app.  Has the Listnr app been dropped.

"Help" pages instruct to arrange your radio requirements via    Media>Manage your system>Radio (button)   But there is no Radio button (Only Music, Video, Podcast or Create Groups)

Hello everyone,

Thanks for reaching out. I appreciate @JillG, for sharing the link. Our team is aware that there are users having issues listening to their favorite radio stations from different radio providers on the Google Home/Nest speakers. I duplicated this thread to a similar trending issue on this link. I suggest you follow the main one for updates.

Also, please make sure to send feedback on your devices using the keywords: GHT3 Unable to play [Radio station] via [Radio partner]Learn more about how to send feedback on our Help Center.

Once you've submitted feedback, please let us know in the comments what type of radio station, radio provider, and your country.

Cheers,

Am having the same issue with Radio App and 3AW.  Stations linked to that app won't play on the Google nest devices but will play on an iphone with the app and cast to the nest mini.

Me too for the past few days. Been happening for a while on and off.

I am another who can't listen to 3aw, except by casting it from my phone.

I have now contacted Google directly through Messenger, and they have tried a few things, none of which worked.  They are looking into the situation and will get back to me with an explanation.

Haven’t been able to access local GC radio for a couple of days. Have tried a few options/commands. Nothing working.

The problem seems to be that Google will only play stations that are on the iHeart and TuneIn apps.  Triple M (and I'm hearing 3AW and probably more) are associated with the Listnr app.  Apparentley the Listnr app used to somehow be associated with TuneIn and therefore got played by Google devices.  But very recently the link/association between Listnr and TuneIn ended.

3AW is also available on RadioApp and that is my workaround.  I have to play RadioApp on my phone and cast it to the Google Home.  Extremely annoying and time wasting.  I am still waiting for Google to get back to me.  They were very helpful yesterday, but couldn't solve the issue, so they said they will look deeper and let me know.

I've sent the feedback, I'm unable to play BBC Radio2 via the BBC Sounds app

Hello,

I'm in the UK I can't play any BBC radio stations. I get one of the following on my Google Home Hub:

"Sorry I don't know, here is what I found on search" or "I can't do that hear but you can ask me to do that on one of your other devices"

I tried on my Google Home Mini and I get:

"Sorry I can't do that yet"

I basically only use Google home to listen to the radio because everything else has stopped working not this has stopped working.

In the US, unable to play ESPN 850 or WTAM 1100 (available on Tune in) on my pixel 5 and Google home mini speakers via voice commands like (play ESPN 850). Unable to play 92.3 The Fan (on Audacy) via voice command on Google home mini (on the pixel 5, this didn't use to play immediately but prompted me to open the Audacy app, but now just says it can't find it...it did play immediately on the speaker previously). These all worked for years, and as of April 10, 2023, this no longer works on any of my devices

Only linked SiriusXM works now for me. NPR used to play with a cute display that won’t play. Local radio station tk -99 FM also doesn’t play. Google home max opens a search engine page to the station.
stream WAER on NPR no longer works.

I'm in the US and trying to listen to:

BBC Radio 2, from the BBC Sounds app

WNYC FM, from the NPR app

WQXR FM, from the NPR app

WAMU, FM, from the NPR app

WBUR FM from the NPR app,

WCBS AM, from (I think) TuneIn

Thank you for the fix. I usually have one or two of my devices playing these stations most of the day. Without the ability to play these, the devices are just pretty bricks.

yep i listen to radio, sports, weather and news and ballgames...they are useless without the radio stations. just playing spotify and asking weather isn't enough to keep them

Having same issue. No radio stations will play at all.

I am in the New York City Metro area in the US. My device won’t play ANY radio station, FM or AM. This started today. Accessing radio stations is my primary usage of this device. I have gifted and recommended Google over Alexa repeatedly - I expect Google to stand behind it’s products and GET THIS FIXED!

Thank you

This is the response I got today from one of your specialists. I lost all credibility on Google products the only thing you are good at is spying at us. How come it takes that long to solve this issue?

8:44:56 AM Mary Grace: We have been receiving a call about the same problem that you are experiencing right now, and a factory reset or troubleshooting on it won't fix it. Rest assured that it is not an issue on your end and we are currently collating issues and our engineers are already aware and they are working on it based on the announcement that we have. This could possibly be affected or a bug as there's been a rolled out update of the Google Home app 2.67 version that has been released this week. This is due to update with its latest feature to provide you with good customer experience, rest assure. Since you already sent a feedback, we've appreciate you for sending that as being a part of our resolution.8:45:39 AM Mary Grace: Currently there's no estimated time of resolution, if you want I can take note of your case and will let you know via email once this is fixed. How's that sound?

Hi Muddi:  I am unable to play radio stations as well in the United States.  I plays two radio stations from Audacy and have been having problems connecting, stating that the stations are unavailable.

SiriusXM has been buggy for a few days now.  Routines that worked for years, won't respond.  Routines with a time setting do not run.  I have sent multiple reports now.

Same problem here in US/Greater Boston area.  Stations we listen to daily all respond: can't find it or unavailable.

Noticed that in latest Google Home app (Android) that under Media>Radio, only siriusXM trial specifically shows as linkable.  Tunein, iHeart and NPR are supposed to be usable without linking.

update: now working again this morning.  Assuming that it was sorted out on Google and radio provider side.

I’m happy to say that the issue is resolved (at least in the US). Hope the same is true for the rest of you!

All fixed, thanks for being responsive.

Mine is working as of this morning. Tested with WFPL from NPR and WRFL from TuneIn. Nest display responded to basic requests, e.g., "Hey Google play WFPL."

No fix in the UK but:

Google is saying its the partners and the BBC to fix:

https://twitter.com/madebygoogle/status/1646433929417875456?cxt=HHwWgIDT0fC7p9ktAAAA

The BBC is saying it's Google:

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/help/issues/smart-speaker/google-live-issue

As it effected multiple partners it would point to the being an issue introduced by Google not the partners.

Appears to be fixed, thanks!
