Favorite radio station suddenly won't play - Melbourne Australia

Robbo9
Community Member

Have been listening to Triple M FM Melbourne for a year with out issue.  Suddenly today it plays a different station from what I'm asking for.  After a little investigating, I find that radio stations that are linked to either iHeart and Tunein are being played, but nothing via the Listnr app.  Has the Listnr app been dropped.

"Help" pages instruct to arrange your radio requirements via    Media>Manage your system>Radio (button)   But there is no Radio button (Only Music, Video, Podcast or Create Groups)

Happened to me this evening, too. My echo will only play YouTube music, not my Sirius XM stations nor anything from TuneIn.

This is their response I got this morning from them. I lost all credibility on Google products they are only good for spying on us!

8:44:56 AM Mary Grace: We have been receiving a call about the same problem that you are experiencing right now, and a factory reset or troubleshooting on it won't fix it. Rest assured that it is not an issue on your end and we are currently collating issues and our engineers are already aware and they are working on it based on the announcement that we have. This could possibly be affected or a bug as there's been a rolled out update of the Google Home app 2.67 version that has been released this week. This is due to update with its latest feature to provide you with good customer experience, rest assure. Since you already sent a feedback, we've appreciate you for sending that as being a part of our resolution.

8:45:39 AM Mary Grace: Currently there's no estimated time of resolution, if you want I can take note of your case and will let you know via email once this is fixed. How's that sound?

Same here on my Lenovo Smart Speakers and Smart Clocks. It started this morning around 3 a.m.

I listen to radio stations (or I used to) from the time I get up until the bed calls.

It must be a new Google Assistant Feature...

Suddenly unable to play radio through Radio App or any other App. Can open Radio App on Android device and cast to devices but Google Assistant says, "I don't know". When asked to play Radio station on any radio app  Listnr, iHeartRadio, or Radio App. Not sure how to overcome this.

I've had two nights of my bedtime routines not working. Have narrowed it down to BBC Radio 4 not playing, or about to be set as an alarm. Classic FM will stream, it says through Tune-In, but BBC gets - "can't do that here - play on other devices".

I have also seen that BBC R4 is not available in my area, although if I go through a VPN, set to France or works on my phone. But if I try to cast this to my speaker it gives - "this station is not available in your country"😭

I think you'll find it not playing BBC radio  try classic FM or any other radio station say LBC. Mine has stopped paying radio 4 in the morning set as an alarm. Logic tells me it's BBC who have a problem and going on to their site they admit it ( it takes a lot of searching to find out  though) . as they have done some rejigging on software to exclude some counties  and someone has cocked up.

Hi there,

No, it's actually not playing any FM stations when asked. I have tried to get it to play local FM station in Australia Perth and it plays a random U.S station. Although I do have my alarm set to play radio in the mornings and it worked this morning.

HI folks,

@Liesel, this is not the experience we want you to have, let me help you. A few questions: which Nest speakers are we working with? Could you specify what radio stations aren’t working via the radio app or the Nest speakers?

@BarleyRiser, @Mikes87, we're sorry to hear about this experience. There's an ongoing conversation referring to this. You can chime in and follow the conversation on the main thread for updates.

Kind regards,

Dan

Hi Dan,

It's actually all devices we have; Nest wifi, Nest Audio, Nest Mini, & Nest Hub. They won't play any radio through voice but will play through phone.

Cheers Liesel

Hi

I can’t get any radio stations to play either.  Tried by saying play 104.7, stream 104.7 and play Triple M Adelaide. Have rebooted internet and powered off hub.

Hey there,

@Liesel, @Rocdon, thanks for the reply. We might need to factory reset one of your Nest speakers and revert it back to its default settings. Depending on your device, see this link for a successful reset. Redo the setup and replicate the concern.

Keep me posted.

Dan

Hi and thanks Dan.

The factory reset on the Nest Audio didn't help. It tells me "I can't do that here. Try one of your other devices". Try another device and it says, "I don't know. Here's what I found on the web".

It's as though Radio App has disappeared from Google.

There are references to two or theee main threads. Can you consolidate them or label them so we know we’re on the correct one?

I am experiencing this same issue. I have two Nest Mini speakers and no radio stations are able to play. I have reported the problem through feedback.

Dublin Station Radio Nova 100.5mhz not working on Google nest. It's been like this for several weeks.

Hi GaillimhTim,

Thanks for reporting this to us. The appropriate team is already investigating this issue with some radio stations not playing on Google Home and Nest devices. I'll merge your post to the main thread so you'll be notified once there are new updates.

Thanks,
Lovely

Having the same problem. Can't play ANY radio through Nest or Hub. Was working fine last week. Also noticed my Google Assistant's voice has changed to a male, not by me... maybe some sort of auto-update has caused the problem.

Have factory reset all speakers and Hub.

Hi all,

same problem.

This is happening at 2 houses, 2 seperate wifi networks and google hubs. So it must be a google account issue??

Not an account. Reports around the world. bBC, Australia. Backend infrastructure seems mangled.
siriusXM plug-in works but that’s it. No FM or AM broadcast

Just adding that neither of my two Google minis, nor a JBL portable speaker will play any radio station via any service (e.g. Audacity or iHeart radio). For example, WXRT in Chicago, WTMJ in Milwaukee, WUWM in Milwaukee, WBEZ in Chicago.

By the way, it's not an issue external to the Home app. Siri brings up all of those stations.

I can't connect to local radio station on my google nest hub 2 , it always connected  to 3aw  , now it just keeps  saying I can't do that right now .

Hey folks,

Thanks for visiting the Community.

I know how it feels when you're having issues listening to your favorite radio station on the Google Home/Nest devices. To confirm, is it isolated to a specific station only? Are you able to listen to radio using a different provider like Radio app and iHeartRadio? What response are you getting when listening to a radio station using your speaker?

Let's go ahead and reboot your device and router by disconnecting them from the power source and leave them unplugged for 1 minute. Once done, plug them back one at a time with intervals. Let's see if your device will have the same behavior.

Looking forward to your response.

Cheers,

Muddi

Hello

When I ask google to “play BBC radio 2” it usually responds with here’s BBC radio 2 on Tunein “

I have already rebooted router and minis ( I have 2) twice and tried to reconnect just one device with no success

The issue seems to be that when I go into Google home app and tap on media there is no button for radio as you can see from attached screenshot - I have also deleted and redownloaded Google home app

I have the same problem I am in the uk, I will try what you have said and will get back to you. when I ask the speaker to play radio 4 it's reply is "I can't do that here but you can ask me to play it on one of your other devices" needless to say all the mini nest devices say the same thing. when I ask the screen it says "I don't know but I found these results on search"

wilverley
Community Member

Me again, I have unplugged everything and left it all off for an hour, I plugged the router back in and once it was up and running left it for a couple of minutes and then plugged in the first mini. Once the mini was up and running did the usual hey google play radio four and got the now familiar "I can't do that here but you can ask me to play it on one of your other devices" needless to say the other minis and the screen are also the same, something has gone seriously wrong over the past few days, can Google respond in some way to let us know what they are doing to investigate the problem. For me the minis and the screen are now next to useless and I am not amused. It would also appear that a number of other people are having the same problem, also looking through the history on the site it would appear that this is not the first time this problem has occurred what was done to fix it last time it happened in 2022?

NOPE did not work, says either not available or can't be played right now. rebooted ALL of my speakers and my displays.

I am having the same problem one day everything worked and the next nothing works, I have tried shutting down the router and all the mini nests and screen but that has not solved the problem. Something has happened ( obviously) to stop all this working and I for one am finding it very frustrating.

I have the same problem (in the UK). My Google Nest Audio will play Spotify, and some radio streams (e,g. Classic FM on TuneIn), but it no longer streams any BBC Radio programs. If I ask it to 'Play BBC Radio 4' it says "I can't do that here, but you can ask me to play it on one of your other devices". It did this last week for a day, then the problem went away, then a day later it returned. Three days later it still doesn't work. I have tried rebooting the speaker. What's going on?

Alan11

Google Support tells me that this is a known issue that they are working on.

I am having the same issue.   When I try to play a radio station on TuneIn and when I try to play a Sirius XM station, it tells me it is either unavailable or can't be found.

It played Monday, but would not work yesterday or today.

I tried rebooting as well.  Very frustrating.
