Goodle Assistant can't find "shopping list" and can't add one.

When I say "Hey Google, add xxxx to my shopping list", it replies, " a shopping list cannot be found. Do you want me to make one?" If I reply yes, the reply, "Sorry, something went wrong" I have tried changing the name of the shopping list and checked settings. Any thoughts?

Hi Rmallett59,

That certainly is interesting! Let's check it out ― what is the Nest device you're using for your shopping list? Was it working before? It would help a lot if you could do a sequential reboot first. Unplug the power cord of your router followed by your Nest speakers. Plug them back in after 3 minutes or 5 minutes tops. Restarting your phone might also help. Afterwards, we could re-train your voice to be recognizable. Click here.

Keep us posted.

Best,

Dan

Hi Dan, it did work before but has not for a while now. My nest Wi-Fi router and Wi-Fi points have been restarted and reset a couple of times, as well as my cable modem. Also my phone has been restarted many times. When I say, “Add milk (for example) to my shopping list”, the reply is “I can’t find a list called shopping. Do you want me to make one?. I reply yes and this it says “Sorry, something went wrong while I was trying  to change the list”.

This just started happening one day and has not resolved.

Also the Wi-Fi points do work when I ask it  to play music such as on iHeartRadio Or Spotify, and it works when asking to change my smart lights or nest thermostats. Only shopping list does not work.

Hi Rmallett59,

Understood. For confirmation, you're using the Nest Wi-Fi points to add an item to your list, right? How about Nest speakers? Are they working? Since you're not able to add an item to an active shopping list, check this out:

Initial checklist

  1. Is your speaker or display powered on correctly?
  2. Is your speaker or display set up on your Wi-Fi network?
  3. Is your speaker or display properly linked to a Google Account?
  4. Are you using a mobile device that has the same Google Account as your speaker or display?

General troubleshooting:

  1. Make sure you use the same Google Account used to set up the speaker or display.
  2. Make sure that Google Account is selected within the Google Home app.

If you could, let's delete the lists that you have and recreate one. Follow the steps below:

  1. Open the Google Home app .
  2. At the top-right, tap the account icon.
  3. Verify the Google Account on screen is the one linked to the speaker or display. To switch accounts, tap the down arrow icon  > choose another account or Add another account.
  4. Go back to the home screen, then tap Settings.
  5.  Scroll down to Services, then tap Notes and lists > Shopping lists. Note: If asked, have the customer choose an app to open their lists.
  6. To view your lists, at the top left, tap Menu > select the list you want to delete > Delete list > Confirm.

Hope this helps.

Regards,

Dan
