Googe Home completely dysfunctional

What happened in the last 10 days? Literally nothing in GH is working correctly.

 

Ten days ago? Worked perfectly.

Nine days ago? No functionality.

 

Doesn't run routines. Doesn't save alarms. Doesn't cast to speakers. Won't recognize 3 of my 12 speakers. Groups don't work. Speakers are cutting in an out. Wifi is strong, but I reset the modem and router anyway. No improvement.

 

Wth happened?

I understand that issues with the Home app can be frustrating but I definitely wanted to stop by and see how I could help. 

 

Just wanted to double check to see if you were still needing help on this? If so, what troubleshooting steps have you tried?

Yeah, so


- there is 1 Audio that can't connect for some reason. It used to connect just fine. Now it doesn't, just keeps saying it failed to communicate.
- none of my routines are working. Parts work, but other parts don't. It won't read anything out loud - the weather, my reminders, my battery level, nothing. 

I un/reinstalled. Cleared cache. Cleared data and cache. Signed out and back in. Updated everything. 

All this started when I tried to switch the wifi for all devices one day from 5ghz to 2.4ghz. It wasn't successful (there was always a huge delay), so I switched em all back. But now, all these problems exist.

Hey there, 

I'm so sorry to hear that you're still having issues with this. 
Does it seem to be issues within the actual app itself, or is the Google Assistant not working correctly?

Some problems are trying to stream music - voice-initiated and app-initiated and Chromecasted. The music just cuts in and out; speakers drop out randomly.

Routines aren't saying out loud parts of the routine (like my battery level or the weather).

One Audio isn't able to be added at all.

I already listed all these problems...they span the app, GH, GA, Chromecast. I also already listed the troubleshooting steps I've already completed.

I understand the frustration and want to be able to help where I can. 

Will you try to factory reset your devices as well? I don't see that you have done that yet, so would you mind doing that and seeing if that works?

Absolutely not. The cavalier attitude IT has toward factory resetting a device is incredible, and not in a good way. Factory resetting a device undoes months of settings and customizations. It would be more disruptive than not being able to use GH at all. It's a ridiculous suggestion that seems to be the solution for all software malfunction

Hey there, 

I understand the frustrations around factory resetting and I assure you that we only go that route when there are no other troubleshooting steps to take if we have exhausted everything. 

From what you've told me, it doesn't sound like the other steps will work for this issue and would love to see if a factory reset helps.
