Google Assistant cannot identify my devices

drmarkafriedman

I have named my devices using a scheme as follows: Nest Mini Bedroom Pair, Nest Mini Den Pair, Best Mini Basement, Lenovo Essential Den, Lenovo Essential Kitchen, Nest Hub Office, ... sometimes with more than one device in a single room.  Google Assistant appears to struggle parsing the command passed to it even when the command is given through a custom command in Google Home routines where the commands are precisely typed out. Google Assistant even appears to parse correctly in one execution and then get it wrong in the very next execution although the routine has not changed. Some of the parsing problems are due to not identifying an existing and active device.  (My commands do follow the specified formats.)

Is anyone seeing something similar with Google assistant not able to identify the device in a command?

Should I name my devices in some other way?

Thanks

Hey drmarkafriedman,

Thanks for reaching out. Sorry to hear about your experience. Let's dig deeper - when did you notice the issue? How far are the devices from each other? How far is the router from the speakers?

Please disable the mic of other devices, and check if you will notice the issue if only one device will hear your command.

Let us know how it goes.

Cheers,

Muddi
