Google Assistant on Nest Hub can only play the same music station called "music"

Hello everyone,

I have an issue that has cropped up in the last month or so. I have several Nest speakers (Nest mini, Home mini, Nest Hub gen 1 and Nest Hub gen 2) that I use to listen music on my YouTube Music Premium account.

For the last month, the speakers/assistant behavior changed and when I ask "Ok Google, listen some music" in English or French (my primary language), It seems to not playing my radio/station/mix that I often listen but just a random music station called "music" with random song that I don't listen usually.

Everytime I ask my Nest speakers for some music the answer is always "Check out this music station called "music" on Youtube Music"

In addition, playing a specific playlist or radio/mix/station doesn't seems to work neither.  If I look at the activity history for Assistant, it recognizes all of the words I'm saying correctly. It just won't play what I asked for. 

Also just to reiterate, this is a very recent issue, it's always worked great for me until now, but the current situation is really annoying, I always have to start music from the Youtube Music app to have something that I like...

With all the stuff happening with Gemini maybe it's related...

Exactly the same here, annoying me extremely as I want the voice control of my music.

I think I will drop YouTube Music if I cannot voice control it on all my 3 pairs of Nest Audio and 3 Nest Hubs, as I have a Tidal subscription with better sound quality that I will use if I have to open my phone to cast music to them.

I just did a full factory reset of one Nest Hub, but it remains the same. Playing some stupid popular music I do not want whenever I ask it to play music.

I also know it recognizes me because it shows my calendar items when I ask it.

Apparently other people have the same problem, hope someone at Google will see this quickly to fix it!

Same issue here in France.

Is there any trick word to put in Google Home ? The field is empty. Before it was playing the music I like, not a radio.

Thanks for reaching out and letting us know about your concern. We'll work together to identify the cause of the problem and find a solution. Were there any recent changes made? Are you getting the same experience when you try your phone’s Google Assistant? 

Try to remove your voice match and set it up once more, then observe if it makes a difference. Check out the steps and the article  below to know more about it:

1. Open the Google Home app .
2. Tap Home Settings Google Assistant Voice Match Other devices.
   • If you have more than one home, tap the home you want to remove Voice Match from.
3. Tap Remove Voice Match from the home Remove.

Hi @Juni,
The issue seems to be fixed for me. I'm not sure if something I tried fixed the issue but it's possible.
I think this issue is related to the new DMA EU regulation implemented by Google: I had to manually authorize the associated services to share data as explained in this post

I don't know why but I never had any notification or stuff like that that asked me to check these settings but my mother phone got one and that's how I linked the issue to this...

I'm not sure what I did to make it work, i had to pick 5 artists in youtube music (it was deleted)

I'm very surprise that Google add some settings about DMA EU, does not inform users and cannot provide support about it, like they don't that setting exist. I can bet if i ask same support in few days, they still cannot answer 🙂

I've got another concern, i use google home to wake up on music, some weeks ago now i have the google voice saying "ok i launch some music from youtube music", how to disable this ? Before it was only starting music ! Can you disable this at least when lauch from a routine ? Thanks
