Google Home Audio LED Lights

I (like many people) have many (many many) google devices in my house.  The microphones are turned on for most devices as they are mostly far enough apart that usually (but not always) the right speaker in the right room picks up the voice command and is smart enough to take simple actions like "turn on the light" in the room the speaker is set up in.

BUT.

There are a couple of speakers that are near each other that too often get confused.  For me, it's my Kitchen and Dining room.  I tend to be in the Kitchen cooking and want to listen to music and set timers.  Great until the dining room hears me and wants to take action instead.  This means I don't get a visual timer on the Google Home Hub in the kitchen and worse yet, when I ask how long on the timer if the kitchen hears me rather than the dining room it says I don't have a timer set.

To get around this I have turned off the Mics on the pair of speakers in the dining room, but now I'm left with orange LED's shining out of two speakers constantly.

Is there anyway to disable those LED's?

(or is there anyway to make the kitchen Home Hub more reliably action commands when I'm standing in that room)

Hello The_Hawk,

Thanks for reaching out. That is a great question, having two devices respond at the same time can be a frustrating issue. I would be more than happy to help find a solution.

1. Your best solution to this issue would be adjusting your "Hey Google" sensitivity so that all of your devices aren't responding at the same time. Here are the steps:

Set Google Assistant’s “Hey Google” sensitivity
IMPORTANT: When you adjust the “Hey Google” sensitivity for a device, it applies to anyone who uses that device.

  1. Make sure the mobile device is connected to the same Wi-Fi or linked to the same account as the Google Nest or Home device.

  2. Open the Google Home app .
  3.  Tap the device card of the preferred speaker or display.
  4. At the top right, tap Settings   Audio  “Hey Google” sensitivity.
  5. Use the slider to raise or lower the device's sensitivity to make it more or less responsive to "Hey Google".

With adjusting and customizing the sensitivity for each device, you can shape which device responds.

2. In regard to changing the orange LEDs you see on your devices, that cannot be adjusted or changed.

Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns, thanks!
