I moved to a new place about a year ago and finally dug out my Google Home speaker, updated all my settings and asked it to play some of my playlists of music I uploaded to my YouTube Music account a couple of years ago, and I cannot get it to play.
I contacted Google, and the support rep said I need to say, "Hey Google, link my playlists." When I did that, though, it said I need a Premium account. I asked him, "So you're telling me that I paid money for this device, and now in order to get it to play music I own and uploaded, I have to pay a monthly fee?" He said, "Yes."
Is this correct? I used to be able to play these with no issues, has that changed in the last year or so? Because that is some BS if so. This is music I paid for and uploaded to my YT music account, and I can play it fine in a browser. I just want to play some of my own playlists on my Google Home because the audio is better than the speakers on my computer.

Never mind. Apparently, I can just cast to the speaker from Chrome. I don't know why the rep didn't just say that. FFS.

Hi Jake-
I mean, it's not technically resolved. I still don't understand why I can't play my own music/playlists through my Google Home. I can play it in a browser no problem, so why shouldn't I be able to play it on a device I shelled out money for, especially when I used to be able to do exactly that?
Casting from my browser to my device is at best a workaround, but I just want to be able to tell my Google Home to play my playlist, but it keeps saying I need a premium account for that.
Any support would be appreciated.

Hey michaelscott,
Apologize for the delays. Chiming in to ensure everything is covered here. Please note that playing uploaded music on the Google Home/Nest devices while on YouTube Music free is not supported. For more information about playing music on Google speakers and displays, please visit this link.
Casting from Chrome browser to your speaker is free because it's like playing the music from the cloud to your speakers over WiFi.
Hope this helps.
Cheers,
Muddi
