Google Home Mini Connecting Issue

amnaimtiaz

Hi everyone. Unsure of the device I just know it has an orange bottom. Basically whenever I try to add the device to my Google Home, it states ‘Connection failed. Couldnt connect to Google Home Mini. Try factory resetting your device’.

However, whenever I try to hold down the button at the bottom of the device it doesnt do anything or reset it. I’ve tried time and time again and the device does not connect or set-up or reset. Any advice?

Hi amnaimtiaz,

Thank you for reaching out to our community.

I’m sorry to hear that it is not possible to connect your Google Home Mini (1st Gen) to your Google Home app. Thank you for letting us know the error messages you’re getting and that you have tried to hold down the button at the bottom of the device, but it can’t be reset. No worries; help is here.

To provide you with better assistance, please answer the following questions:

  • When did you notice that your Google Nest Mini was disconnected?
  • How long ago did you own your Google Nest Mini device?
  • What is the distance between your Google Nest Mini and the router?
  • Could you please check if there are wireless interferences like walls and floors, nearby Wi-Fi networks, other electronics, cordless phones, baby monitors, microwaves, Bluetooth devices, and wireless video equipment?
  • Could you please check if your Google Nest Mini is linked to the same Google account that you use in your Google Home app?
  • Can you describe the status of the 4 LED lights? Please refer to this article for reference: Google Nest and Google Home device LED lights
  • Did you receive any error messages in the Google Home app after performing the factory reset of your Google Nest Mini?
  • Has the device been dropped or knocked over?
  • Have you tried connecting the Google Nest Mini to a different power source?
  • Have there been any recent changes to your environment, such as a change in Wi-Fi network or recent outages?
  • What is the make and model of the mobile device you're using for setup?
  • Could you please double-check if you did the factory reset following the instructions provided in this article: Factory reset Google Nest or Home speakers or displays?

Thanks for your kind attention; I will be looking forward to your answer.

Best regards,

Virna
