Google Home/Nest still not playing radio stations problem (Canada)

AndrewInCanada

Read some posts worldwide about this. Google says it's fixed but I'm still experiencing problems in Canada.

"I looked for (insert radio station name) but it either isn't available or can't be played right now."

This started a few days ago and still persists. The usual "Hey, Google - play (radio station)" used to be very reliable for everything. Now just getting above message no matter what I reboot.

Anyone else in Canada or worldwide still getting this error?

Hey everyone,

My apologies for the late response. Seems like we've been seeing quite an increase in reports, regarding issues streaming radio on the Google Home/Nest devices, and thanks for sharing your feedback on this thread.

The team would like to check if this is a localized issue. Could you try switching the Assistant language to EN_US, and see if your device will have the same behavior?

Change Assistant language

  1. Open the Google Home app.
  2. At the top-right, tap the Account icon.
  3. Tap Assistant settings and then Languages.
  4. Tap English (United States).

Let me know how it goes.

Cheers,

Muddi

Frustrating for sure. Since I changed to English US all has been good. Would think Google is monitoring thread and could fix

After facing this issue for 2.5 weeks and not finding any solutions, the problem seems to have resolved itself today. Every once in a while I kept trying to use the voice command, and today it suddenly worked again. I don't know what changed, so I don't know whether I should expect the issue to randomly appear again. I really hope it doesn't! For now, I am glad to have my radio back!

Same! Everything suggested, I tried. I also would try asking Google every day and now all of a sudden, it worked! Hope it stays this way.

Hi, I'm in Montreal, quebec, Canada. Changed to English (United States) and it works, but we speak french and none of the french options work.  TuneIn or iHeartRadio are the one it connect too. Google mini: 1.56.348702

I had the problem a year ago.  Google/TuneIn finally fixed it.  Happening again now when I ask to play CBC Radio.  I get a rock station from Western Canada.  Nothing against Grand Prairies Rock 97.7 but it is not CBC Radio 1 (99.1 Toronto).

The language change fix worked for me to get my favourite jazz station from tune-in, but I just noticed this week that if I ask for news, Google Home now gives me American news, instead of Canadian

Looks like Google does not care much about Canadians. Still not working in Montreal, like you I have my setup in USA in order to have it work. This is a poor patch.

I finally talked to someone at Google home support. They fixed my problem in a very professional way.

Please share how they fixed the problem.

How did you even get through to them. Although I was able to correct the settings through other suggestions here never did find a way to have contact. Others here may find of value

I've had no luck and the problem is getting worse for me.😥

I contacted "Made by Google" on Twitter, they tried to help, then said that it's a Sirius FM issue.

Same issue with XM here! I am already using English US and now it plays one song from the station and then turns off. I have tried to reset every Google home and nothing works (we have 7 in the home, so giant pain). I also attempted to play it from the app on my iPhone 14 Pro, that did the same thing (only played one song then stopped). App is up to date, always is. It’s actually been doing this for months and driving me crazy. We pay for multiple XM accounts so the Google can play our jazz through out the home all day… doesn’t work! Grrr

The tech at Google help me fix the problem by making me place in the Google Home app all the device in the same room (you don't have to physically move them in the house)

1 - Open Google Home

2 - Devices

3 - Make sure all your connected device are all in the same room

4 - if not, go in settings and re-organize (I don't remember the steps, you may have to check online how to do this)
