Google Home Product Design Flaw

There seems to be an issue where Google Home products eventually lose the ability to connect to the internet. Over time the issue becomes worse and worse until the product must be trashed. There are hundreds of comments about this issue, Google's own AI search brings up the problem itself. This is incredibly common, to the point that I suspect Google knows there's a significant flaw. Has anyone found the cause even if there's no solution?

Before responding please don't copy and paste answers like "Did you unplug it?" Or, "Did you check the wifi?" I'm here for in-depth technical help and not where the reset button is located. I have been building PCs and home networks since 2002, let's skip what a router is. All other devices (11 other devices) work perfectly well and consistently on the network. The. Problem. Is. The. Google. Home. Device. Nothing else. Literally...nothing else is wrong. It is the device.

Let me be crystal clear, it's the Google Home Device. What is wrong with it?

Hi @Remydrh!

Thank you for posting in the community. I'm sorry to hear that your Google Home device is experiencing persistent and escalating connectivity issues, ultimately leading to its inability to connect to the internet. I understand how difficult it can be to have your Google Home device constantly losing its internet connection. I appreciate your efforts in taking those steps before. I'm happy to help you!

To help me find the best solution, I'll need to ask you a few questions:

  • What is the exact model of your Google Home device that keeps losing its internet connection?
  • Does your device only lose internet connection, or does it also unlink from your Google Home app?
  • How was the connectivity issue discovered?
  • Did you get any error messages either from the Google Home device or in the Google Home app?
  • Does it reconnect on its own, or do you have to do something to get it back online?
  • Is the Google Home app up to date?

Please keep me posted. I'll be waiting for your response.

Best regards,
Geremi

Cast 3.75.468362 (current) Google Home Speaker (not mini)

It only loses internet connection, "Please check your wifi router or internet connection..." voice error.

It tells me it's unable to connect wifi when I say, "Hey Google"

It does not disconnect from Home (I don't have to add it back manually or otherwise unless I do it myself)

No errors other than the response it can't connect to wifi unless there's a log that's not obvious.

Firmware and software all set to auto-update. App is current.

The only solution is to unplug it and plug it back in. Eventually it will disconnect again.

This will happen while I stream content on another device, no errors with connection on any other device. No disconnections or errors or interruptions on other devices (LG TV, PS5, Home PC, etc) Mesh network on symmetrical fiber. I can watch an uninterrupted 4k stream with no problems but during that time the Google Home loses connection and won't reconnect. So there's no other device showing issues during the time the Google Home disconnects.
