Google Home (& home mini) being constantly disconnected

JyTy

I have bought two Google devices, Google Home and Google Home mini. Both of them are connected to different Wi-Fi routers and were working just fine up to until a couple of months ago. Even though both of them are on different routers (and those haven't changed since, same routers no updates) they have the same issue:

If the Home is idle for a while, a couple of minutes is enough. It will never ever respond on the first try. Same for home and mini - they will freeze for a couple of seconds and then respond with "sorry there was a glitch in the system" or "something went wrong, try again in a couple of seconds". Second try same thing, on the third try after a minute of messing around they usually start to work... but if I leave it idle for a couple of minutes the same thing happens again... that makes both of the devices pretty useless to me?!

As mentioned both of the devices are on different routers, but in the same room as the router, so very near no obstacles so it cannot be a connection issue...

I have tried everything possible that I have found on the internet, router reset, device reset (both of them), deleting the home setup and the mobile app, reinstalling, adding a new home, adding the devices to it... multiple times. But nothing solves the issue!

It is really frustrating that both of the devices are useless after being in use for just just over three years and I just cannot resolve it ...

I would appreciate if there is anything to help me solve this, so thank you for all your responses in advance.

So usually this is a wifi issue, can you try to power cycle your routers, and also ensure ipv6 is disabled ?  I found once I did those two things this error went away

Well that is just it, nothing changed on my routers (both of them)... I haven't logged into them since my initial setup 5 years ago... I have power them on and off multiple times as well, but nothing helps...

Apologies while this is normally the case, it does seem like there is an uptick in this same error, Google is aware of it and working on it now

Hey JyTy,

Thanks for sharing details about the issue. I appreciate @Ashepherdson help here.

To further isolate the issue, please try setting up one of your devices using a mobile hotspot. Please note that you will need two mobile devices for this setup (one will serve as a router and the other to be used to set up your Google Home or Mini). Once done, set up your device then check if it will have the same behavior.

Keep us posted.

Cheers,
