Google Home keeps saying Link Account

This is identical to the complaint from Amjadhussein99 on May 30 2023. If you read it, it was successfully resolved via an email conversation that is not available to see. Can you please check and let me know what was done.

My complain is identical. I discovered 2 of my 3 hubs with black screens and tried rebooting, to no avail. I then reset and both connect to the extent that I can use the app to change from dark to light, but no other settings are shown. When I then reboot the hub, I get the LINK ACCOUNT message but can go no further.

I can still access the hub and change the display from light to dark but nothing else.

Hi @IanRW,

based on the information you've provided, here are some steps you can take to address the black screen issue with your Nest Hubs:

Double-Check the Basics:

  • Power Connection: Ensure your Nest Hubs are securely plugged into a functioning power outlet. Try using a different outlet to rule out power source issues.
  • Physical Buttons: Nest Hubs don't have many physical buttons, but make sure the microphone mute button isn't accidentally turned on.

Restart vs. Reset:

  • You mentioned rebooting the Nest Hubs, but did you try a full factory reset? While a reboot might restart the software, a factory reset wipes all settings and data. It's often a more effective troubleshooting step.

Factory Reset Steps:

  1. Locate the reset button: There's a small reset button on the back of your Nest Hub.
  2. Press and hold: Use a pin or similar object to press and hold the reset button for about 10 seconds. The screen will turn black and then begin the reset process.
  3. Follow on-screen instructions: Once the Hub restarts, you should see on-screen instructions to set up the device again.

After Resetting:

  • Set Up Again: Go through the setup process using the Google Home app on your phone or tablet. This will involve connecting the Nest Hub to your Wi-Fi network and setting up your Google Assistant preferences.
