Google Home not linking to Lifx Services

Hi, my Lifx lights were appearing in Google Home, however Google assistant was not able to access them. Saying "something went wrong, try again..." Over and over.

I thought if I just unlink Lifx from GH, and re-link, the problem would be solved, but instead I can no longer link to Lifx.

I've tried multiple times to relink the account. When I click on "works with Google Home" I search for the Lifx icon and select it, hit "continue" and the screen opens up in the lifx app and shows I'm connected to the cloud, and I can control the lights in the Lifx app, but Google is still not recognizing that I am linked to Lifx. When I look into my Gmail account for 3rd party access, Lifx is not there. In the Gmail account it does not give me an option to link new 3rd party accounts there, only remove 3rd party accounts.

SO, I tried resetting my router, completely resetting my Google Home speakers, deleting and reinstalling the Google Home app, resetting my Lifx lights, deleting them and reinstalling them in Lifx.

I'm out of ideas. I've been troubleshooting for 6 hours to no avail. The Google Home app does shows I'm linked to other smart devices that I use, and am currently linked to one 3rd party service.

Please help!!

Hi MandaC,

Thanks for posting in the community!

So sorry to hear you're trying to link your Google Assistant with your Lifx lights, and after all the steps you've taken, nothing seems to be working. No worries; let’s see what’s happening with these devices.

To help diagnose this, could you please share the following information with me?

  • Lifx Lights software version
  • Google Assistant software version
  • Google Home app version
  • Phone brand and model
  • Phone operating system (iOS or Android) and version

With this information, we'll be able to narrow it down and get your lights connected! Feel free to share any additional details that might be relevant.

Also, for your reference, you can see this article about how you can see your Google Assistant's version.

I will be looking forward to your answer.

Best regards,

Nery.
