Google Home speaker does not communicate with internet

My google Home speaker fails to play music or does not answer at all.

Command to change output volume workes good. E.G. I see the leds reacting.

Switching microphone on and of is giving its comments.

When I ask for F.I. the weather forecast it is showing the colored leds turning for a while but nothing further hapened.

I set the set back to factory defaults and reinstalled it, first at the original network and inm a second attempt also at another network next to a known good and operating Google Home speaker of the same series. It seems that this speaker is configured at the local LAN but is not communicating to the internet.

Any clue?

Hi RonaldvW,

I know how it feels when something isn’t working the way it should. Let’s get this sorted out. Do you have another phone or tablet? Try this workaround:

  • Set up a temporary mobile Wi-Fi hotspot. Enable your Mobile data and hotspot. (This device will act as a router)
  • Connect the other phone/tablet to the hotspot.
  • Factory reset your Google Home speaker once more.
  • Set up using the other phone/tablet. Choose the Mobile hotspot on the “Connect to Wi-Fi” page > Complete the set up steps.

Once the setup is complete, try to give it a voice command and see if it will respond correctly. Then, change the connection from the hotspot back to your Wi-Fi. From the home view of the Google Home app, tap Devices > Choose your Google Home > Settings > Device information > Wi-Fi > Forget Wi-Fi. Switch the connection of the set up device from the hotspot to your Wi-Fi > Open the Google Home app > Do the normal set up process again.

Regards,
Alex
