Google Home will not change hub display settings

MWETulsa

Recently had some wifi changes at home. This ended up making me reset both google hubs in the house to get them to connect again. Since then, seemingly, I have no longer been able to reset display settings from Google Home. For example, I set Minimum Brightness to Brighter, leave settings, come back and it is back to Dim again. The same is true for all other settings on the Display settings page in Google Home. It is like the setting are "stuck".

Hi MWETulsa,

Thanks for reaching out! I understand your concern, I don't like when my Google Nest Hub's brightness and dimness is not what I want. I would be more than happy to help look into this issue. First, I have some quick questions to get a better understanding of this situation.

  • Which Google Hub do you have? (model name, generation number)
  • Do you have Ambient EQ set up? If so, you may want to turn it off if you want your device constantly brighter.
    • It adapts the display brightness and color temperature to match the surrounding environment, so your device automatically gets brighter or darker.
    • Ambient EQ is automatically enabled when you set up your Nest display. You can choose to have Ambient EQ adjust the screen color to match your environment Always, during Ambient only, or Never as shown below. If you’d like to offset the brightness, you can do so in the Display settings on your Home app. To disable Ambient EQ, utilize the Quick settings tray on the device when you swipe your finger up from the bottom of the display, and tap the sun icon.
  • Do you have Low-light mode on? If so, you may want to turn that off as well.
    • Whenever the room is dark, Low-light mode will be enabled. It will be enabled regardless if Ambient EQ is on or off. When in Low-light mode, the display will either show the time or turn the screen off completely.
  • Have you tried any troubleshooting steps to the device itself? (ex: reboot, reset, etc.) If so, what have you attempted?

Thank you for your patience, let's get this issue resolved!
