Google Home won't find my phone

AgusMarotte

Hi! I tried asking my Google Home device to find my phone, but it told me "I can only help you find a phone if it has notifications turned on in the google home app". I checked and notifications are on and ALL permissions are activated. I also tried finding my phone on the web page and it finds it normally. I also have the find my phone app installed

Hi AgusMarotte,

This is not the experience we want you to have; let me help you. A few questions: which Nest speakers are we working with? When did your issue begin? Were there any recent changes made? What phone are you using?

It would help a lot if you could do a sequential reboot first:

  1. Unplug the power cord of your router, followed by your Nest speakers.
  2. Plug them back in after 3 minutes.
  3. Restarting your phone might also help.

Furthermore, you can follow the steps below to enable Critical alerts:

  1. Open the Google Home app Google Home app.
  2. Tap Settings and then Notifications.
  3. If you have the option, tap Turn on Notifications and then Go to settings. This takes you to the Google Home screen in your iPhone’s Settings app.
    1. If you don’t have the option to turn on notifications, this may mean notifications are already turned on.
  4. Tap Notifications and then turn on Allow Notifications.
  5. Go back to the Google Home app for the setting to take effect.
  6. To turn on Critical alerts, from the home screen, tap Settings and then Notifications and then General notifications and then turn on Critical alerts.

See this guide for more information.

Hope this helps.

Best,

Dan

As I stated on my post, i'm using a Google Home, the speaker. Also as I said on my post, ALL notifications are already on. I also tried unpluging and restarting my phone. This issue began since I got it the day I made the post. I have a Samsung Galaxy A71

Hello AgusMarotte,

Chiming in, to ensure everything is covered here. Just to add, please go to the Google Play store link and disable your old phone and enable your new phone from the 'show in menus' section. Also remove your old phone from your Google account if you don't want it to be recognizable anymore.

Let me know how it goes.
