Google assistant not working with “works with google light bulb”

I set up my Meross light bulb on google home and it works perfect! I can easily turn it on and off with the app. But when I use “hey google” on my google speaker to try controlling the light, it says…. to use that function, you will need to set it up in google home…. which I already did. I’m can’t figure out what I’m missing

A few questions: what type of Google Home speaker do you have? Are there other Home Automation devices in your home? Can your Google Home speaker control the other devices?

Hello! It looks like we’ve got it figured out! I was using the recently updated google home app and could not figure out how to make google assistant recognize the lights existence. I added my boyfriend to my google home, he had the older version and it was almost nothing but a press of a button to connect with google assistant!
