Google Hub Max returning strange results

Nillyfresh

Hi, recently my Google Hub has been returning strange results. Anytime I ask it when a certain store closes, be it Target, McDonalds, Walmart etc., the Hub immediately responds with: "These pictures should match.", and it will show a picture of the company logo and that's it. Its infuriating and no idea why its happening suddenly. Even if I ask slight variations of the question, like "When is Target open until?", it gives the same result. It used to work fine. WHAT IS GOING ON???

@Nillyfresh

I just asked our Nest Hub "When is Target open until?" and got "These pictures should match" with the Target logo. If I ask "What are Target's hours?" I get "Check out these pictures" with a Target logo. But if I ask "When does the Target in xxxx yyyy close?" I get their closing time. Same with other stores. Other question work fine.

Thanks, yes I get those same results. My point is, I didn't get the picture results previously when I asked when stores closed. At least I know this seems to be a universal issue, not just me.

Maybe this is limited to the Google Assistant being confused when asked "When is Target open until" without specifying a store location. If I specify a specific Target (or Home Depot, or other chain store), I get the closing time. And we're not getting any other odd answers.

Hi folks,

@MplsCustomer, thanks for the help.

@Nillyfresh, thanks for posting and I'm sorry if you Nest Hub Max isn't answering questions as it should be, like before. I'd love to find the solution with you. Since this is kinda isolated when saying the keywords  "When is (name of store) open until", let's try a different approach. Say, "Hey, Google! When is the nearest store closing?". If it answers correctly, say "Hey, Google! When is the nearest (name of store) closing?".

It would also help a lot if you could do a sequential reboot by unplugging the power cord of your router followed by your Nest Hub Max. Restarting your phone might also help.

Keep us posted.

Best,

Dan

Thanks for your help. I tried this. It worked with a local grocery store. But when I asked it for large stores like Target or McDonalds, it did the usual "Here are some pictures that match" and displayed the company logo. This seems to be a Google issue, not a device or account issue. I have also tried restarting everything.

@Nillyfresh

If you ask your Nest Hub "When does Target close?", there is no way for it it answer meaningfully, but "Check out these pictures" is a pretty goofy response.  I agree it's coming from Google's servers.

Hi Nillyfresh,

It's a good thing it's working in local grocery stores but, for confirmation, could you ask "Hey, Google! What's my address?" and "Hey, Google! What's my name?" to see if it responds correctly and is set in the right location.

Regards,

Dan
