I moved a Google Nest Hub (1st gen) to a new location and found no options for changing the name/location. It's easy enough to set up new so I factory reset the device. All the steps completed successfully via Google Home, but the device was left thinking I still needed to follow instructions that weren't there. I rebooted the Hub and now it says I need to link it to my account, but I can find no options to do this because the app thinks it's linked. What's next?

Hi Janet Elam,

I am sorry that you are encountering this connectivity issue with your device. I understand your concern. The Google team is aware of this issue and is investigating a possible cause. There are no other steps to take at this time to troubleshoot.

I just wanted to check in, has this issue resolved on its own for your device?

  • If YES (has been fixed), could you please send feedback with the words: "GHT3 Nest Hub link account issue fixed" with an explanation of the situation?

  • If NO (has NOT been fixed), could you please send feedback with the words: "GHT3 Nest Hub stuck on link account screen" with an explanation of the situation?

Your feedback is greatly appreciated, as it will help our engineering team address this issue.

Amazingly, after leaving the device unplugged for more than 36 hours, it completed setup without further steps in Google Home when I plugged it in after receiving this feedback request.

I'm very curious as to whether a switch was flipped somewhere or a network glitch resolved. But I'm happy the device is no longer a brick so I'll take it.

Hi Janet Elam,

Thank you for reaching out with an update. I am glad to hear that your Google Nest Hub is working normally again.

@MamaHutt, are you still experiencing this issue? If yes, I'd suggest you to try a Factory Data Reset on your device to see if that helps.
  • A factory reset will reset your Google Nest or Home speaker or display to its default factory settings.
  • Note: This action will clear your data from the device and can't be undone.
Does the "Finish Setup" message still occur?

I appreciate your patience and look forward to your response.
