Google Nest Hub 2: Show Hue on Home Screen possible?

THZBS
Community Member

Hello

is it possible to set the Hue Automation (lamps, devices) on the Nest's home screen? I mean, when I swipe down, I would already have the Hue lamps on my home screen?
I don't own a Google Nest Hub so far, so I ask here, as this would be something very useful for me.

Thank you.

Hi THZBS,

Thanks for visiting the Community.

Good questions! Most of the smart devices need to be set up from the native app first before connecting to the Google Nest Hub (2nd gen). There are also devices that you can set up directly from the Google Home app and be able to control and see them on your Nest Hub (2nd gen) screen. Click here for more information about connecting smart home devices in the Google Home app.

By the way, are you trying to setup a Philips Hue device or a Hue smart devices?

Looking forward to your response.

Cheers,

Muddi

Hi Muddi

I have not bought it yet, as I wanted to get information if this feature is possible or not, before buying it...

Hi THZBS,

Got it! Could you share with us the specific device so we can further check if it's compatible with the Nest Hub (2nd gen)?

Hi Muddi

I have severa Hue devices, for example Hue Lightbar Play.

What I would need is to place Home Automation on the Home Screen, like i this Video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u9ooPvbmZf4

in minute 3:23, see screenshot: https://ibb.co/b5Y4pnL

But, I just found a website https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9137285?hl=en&co=GENIE.Platform%3DAndroid#zippy=%2Cuse-...

Where I can read:

Use your screen

  • Wake up your screen: Tap it or say "Hey Google."
  • Go back to the previous screen: From the left edge of the screen, swipe right or say "Hey Google, go back."
  • Go to Home Control: From the top of the screen, swipe down.

This is what I need, an easy way to access Home Control with just one swipe!

Hey THZBS,

I understand. Currently, the only way to access the "Home Control" on the Nest Hub display is to swipe the screen down. Also, there's no available voice command to open that settings on Nest display.

Hi Muddi

Hi Muddi

Thank you, this is exactly what I wanted to know! So, when I only have to swipe down, this is quite easy for me to do. So no long scrolling to find home automation is needed.
I already use Amazon Echo which I can use with voice commands for the Hue lamps, but for my needs a Google Nest Hub would be a good addition, as long as the Home Automation is easy to open, and this is the case then, as you confirmed.
Many thanks.
