Google Nest Hub Disable Time Out

Sirwa
Community Member

Hi,

after the recent update, i cant cast my home assistant to the nest hub. A short 30 seconden and screen goes black and the smart device becomes a “clock”.

before the update there was a 10 minute delay, which also was awful. But it worked.
can i disable the time out or will this be fixed? Can i revert back to older OS? Can i disable future updates?

at the moment both my Hubs are useless to me.

thanks!

Hi Sirwa,

Thanks for reaching out! I am sorry to hear that you are having a negative experience with your Google Nest Hubs. I would be more than happy to help find a solution.

There is still a way to adjust the idle settings, however it is now 5 minutes.

Here are the steps:

  1. Open the Google Home App
  2. Click the display device
  3. Press the gear icon to open device settings
  4. Scroll down to "Display," click it
  5. Toggle the "turn off screen after 5 minutes of inactivity" option

Hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns. Thanks.
