Google Nest Hub Max Thread problem

blueskies1977
Community Member

Set up:

Nest Hub Max (System firmware version: 26.20250116.103.2900 cast firmware version: 3.76.463359)

RT-BE58U (Firmware version 3.0.0.6.102_37073)

5 x Nanoleaf NL54

14 x Nanoleaf NL67

All bulbs are firmware version 4.1.3

All bulbs set up via Nanoleaf app and added to Google Home by the Nanoleaf App

When I initially set up the lights, I had no problem at all but I had an issue with the Nest Camera functions. As part of the solving of that I reset the Nest Hub Max and set the whole lot up again.

Now, when I reset to factory settings, I get the use of my lights for a few hours when they go offline and I lose them all and have to reset the Nest Hub Max to get them to work again. The Nest Hub Max sets up a new thread network id each time I reset but it still seems to work for a limited time with the existing network.

The lights are all set up via the Nanoleaf app which tells me that, when I lose connectivity with the lights, there is no thread network active at all and it only reappears when I reset the Hub Max to factory settings.

I have reset the hub about 20 times in the past few days trying to rectify the problem.

Pulling my hair out with this system, please help

Hi @blueskies1977,

Thanks for reaching out to the community! I understand you're experiencing issues with your Nest Hub Max's Thread functionality and your Nanoleaf lights, as they're losing connection periodically. I appreciate you taking the time to share your setup information and the troubleshooting steps you've already attempted. Don't worry; you're in the right place. Please allow me to handle this for you.

Before we move forward, I have some questions about the details you mentioned.

  • When you "reset the Nest Hub Max and set the whole lot up again," did you remove the Nanoleaf lights from the Google Home app and the Nanoleaf app before factory resetting the Nest Hub Max, or did you reset the Hub Max first?
  • When your lights go offline and the Nanoleaf app indicates "no thread network active," does your Nest Hub Max still show as connected to Wi-Fi and accessible in the Google Home app?
  • With your 19 Nanoleaf devices, are they spread throughout your home or mostly in one area? Does their distance from the Nest Hub Max seem to affect how quickly they go offline?
  • Do you have any other Thread-enabled devices or Thread Border Routers in your home besides the Nest Hub Max?
  • Have you made any recent changes to your RT-BE58U router settings (beyond the initial setup) or introduced new Wi-Fi devices to your network around the time these issues began?
  • How far apart are your Nest Hub Max and your RT-BE58U router? Are they in the same room, or are there any significant obstacles like walls between them?

I know this might seem like a lot of questions, but they're just to confirm some details and help us avoid unnecessary steps. Once you provide this information, I'll be able to assist you further.

Best regards,

Debora
