Stuck on

Complete Setup Follow Instructions in Smart Device Management API Documentation to assign the device

Can't get past this, volume buttons holding down will not produce a factory reset.

Just to add, when I go to go.co/dev/nestfleet its a 404.

I live in senior apartments and they over 100 of these and nobody can make these  things work.

Thanks for posting here in the Google Nest Community.
 

This is not the experience that we wanted you to have, let me help you out. Is this a 1st gen or 2nd gen Google Nest Hub? You can try the steps below to put the device on recovery mode then do the factory data reset when it’s in that state. Once done, wait for the device to boot up then set it up again as a new device. 

 

Put the device in recovery mode:

  1. Unplug the power cord.
  2. Hold down the volume buttons and plug in the power cord at the same time.
  3. Wait for the device to turn on.
  4. Release the volume buttons.

Once the device is in recovery mode, attempt an FDR.

Tried this and it just freezes with a G in the middle of the screen, will not do factory reset.
