Google Nest Mini 2 not playing Spotify song

RTET

I bought Google Nest Mini 2 through an online shopping platform. 1st unit was delivered but not able to connect to network. Returned to seller. Replacement unit, successfully connected but not responding on the Spotify. I have link the media with 'Spotify' but command 'Hey Google, play a song' is not responded accordingly. Nest Mini responded 'Playing song from Spotify' but no song at came out from the Nest Mini 2. Tried couple of times but still same. I rest, reboot and reinstall and even unlink and relink the Spotify account. Still not working. May I know if this is the problem of the Nest Mini 2 or Spotify has stop supporting Google Nest Mini?

Regards

Hello @RTET and @spencash

Thanks for reaching out! I am sorry that your Spotify is not working. I use Spotify all the time as well so I understand how important this issue is.

At this moment, this is an emerging issue of Spotify having issues with the Google Assistant on Google Nest and Home devices. Our team is aware of this situation and are working on getting this issue resolved.

In the meantime, I recommend you casting your music from Spotify.

To cast from a mobile device, you will go to the bottom right of your screen of your Spotify App. You will see a desktop screen and speaker icon next to each other. Once you click on it, it will show which device you are listening to Spotify on. Below that will be a list of devices you can select to transfer your music to. Your speaker should be on the list. This is what I usually do when I use Spotify and haven't had any issues.

I apologize for the inconvenience. Please feel free to reach out with any other questions or concerns. Thanks!

Hi @RTET

Thanks for your message. The team is looking into this issue, so the only thing besides suggesting to cast is to be patient. Once again, I apologize for the inconvenience caused.

Excuse me, Francis? I am extremely sorry, but… when I try to do it manually, it does appear, but I can’t connect to my own Google Home. I have tried it with my parents’ Google Home, and it worked. I am pretty sure my sister’s works (probably shouldn’t find out, because I am scared of her :P) but mine suddenly just stopped working with Spotify except for a connection time that never ends. The symptoms are the same.

Hi @CraveBearYT

Thanks for reaching out.

  • Just wanted to confirm your question, are you are having an issue manually casting Spotify from the app to your Google device?
  • Which Google Home device do you have?
  • Is your Google Home device on the same WiFi network as your Spotify app?
  • Is your Google Home device showing up as connected?
  • What troubleshooting steps have you tried so far?

I look forward to your response, let's get this issue resolved!

Hi All,

It's been a few days since we have heard from you. Just checking to see if you were able to see my response above. I look forward to your response, we're here to help!

Sorry! I was caught up with school! Anyway, Spotify WAS getting the signal from my google nest mini, but if I were to tap on it, it just wouldn't load, whereas my parent's one did. If I asked it to play a song, it would say okay, playing "insert song here,", but it would never do it. It's fixed now, though.

Hey all,

It has been a few days since the last reply, and I am going to lock the thread at this time. If you have any questions, please feel free to create a new post.

I am beginning to have that same issue since, I noticed it more after changing my wifi provider, and it seems the issue happens mostly when I ask it to play a single song, seems ok with playing a playlist or album. Anybody got to the bottom of this yet

Hello RobNO,

Thank you for reaching out. As this thread has discussed two issues, could you please specify which issue you are encountering?

Is your Google Assistant not playing Spotify or is your manual casting from another device to a speaker not working?

Lastly, what troubleshooting steps have you tried?

I look forward to your response, thanks!

Hello since last week or so, I can't stream a spacific song, for example: 'Hey Google, play a "X"' the Nest Mini responded 'Playing song "X" from Spotify' but no song at all came out from the Nest Mini 2, no problem with playlist.

Sorry I failed to say that I've already make a full reset of the Spotify and Google Home apps, unlink and relink accounts as the same with the Nest.

Hello,

I'm using my new Nest Google Mini 2 with a Premium Spotify account.
When I say in Dutch: "Hey Google, speel het liedje Through The Barricades van Spandau Ballet", it plays whatever song from Spandau Ballet". When I ask exactly the same in English: "Hey Google, play the song Through The Barricades by Spandau Ballet." I get the song I requested.

Conclusion: It works with my Premium Spotify account when I speak in English, what most users seem to use in here.  That's why I put my post here.

But it doesn't work in the language Dutch.
