Google Nest Mini (2nd generation) not seen by Google Home

I have a Google Nest Mini (2nd gen) that Google Home just won't see. The Mini turns on and says to go to the Home app. I am using a Pixel 5 on Android 13. It searches and then asks what I'm trying to add, says to plug in the device and wait 45 seconds and search again. I looked online and tried the solution in this post

https://www.googlenestcommunity.com/t5/Speakers-and-Displays/Cannot-connect-to-or-set-up-Google-Nest...

but none of it worked. Location services are on and the Home app has constant access. No Nest Wifi network appears in my wifi list. My wifi is working, other devices are on and connected. I factory reset it. I restarted my phone. I force closed the Home app.

I have another smart speaker (Insignia) and two smart bulbs that have connected with no issue.

At this moment in time you won't be able to use a Pixel phone for setup in the US. Do you have another Android device or iPhone can you use for the setup? Perhaps you could borrow one from a friend or family member if you don't have one?

The only other device I have on hand is a 2017 Pixelbook, and it appears not to be working on there either. Thanks for the help, it's insane that Google's own devices can't activate another one of their devices.

Hey BLipp,

Chiming in to ensure everything is covered here. Just to add, this issue is because of an interruption caused by Sonos, a small number of you using Pixel phones in the US may be unable to set up devices at this time. We are hopeful that this is a temporary decision that only impacts a small number of you.

In the meantime, if you’re attempting to set up a device that hasn’t been connected to WiFi for some time (or ever), you may encounter the message “Device needs to be activated before setup” in the Google Home app. Since all troubleshooting steps has been exhausted, please give us a call or chat.

We will continue to loop in our community on updates on this situation. Make sure to follow the main thread for updates.

Cheers,

Muddi
