Google Nest Mini Gen2 4 leds stay on

DaveDerrick
Community Member

I have a Gen2 Nest Mini, when it powers up I just get 4 white LEDs light up & stay on. Google Home app on my phone doesnt find it.

Ive tried muting the mic & pressing the centre for 5 seconds. I've also tried disconnecting the power, waiting 10 seconds the reconnecting (repeat 10 or 11 times). Still it doesnt start up correctly.

Is it totally corrupted, or can it be saved ?

Hey DaveDerrick,

Thanks for reaching out. I know how difficult it is not to have a working device when needed. To confirm, do you hear a sound when adjusting the volume? Does it reset when you mute the mic and press the center? When and where did you purchase your device? Also, please take a photo or video showing the issue on your device so we can further check.

Looking forward to your response.

Cheers,

Muddi

Have you tried a factory reset? Press and hold a little bit longer and see if it'll start to reset and you can set it up again.

Thanks for the replies, sorry I havent replied sooner I've just had a very busy few days.

Ive tried the factory reset but it doesnt work as the speaker is totally unresponsive.

Here is what happens https://drive.google.com/file/d/1wP63I_PhqOWIAo1Wv3BuxKPlAaBU98US/view?usp=sharing

It just stays like this with 4 leds on no matter how long I leave it, or how many times I power it up or down. I've followed the 10x off/on (and tried 11x) & the press & hold centre methods. But nothing seems to get any response from the speaker, it just remains inactive with 4 leds on.

Thanks agaon.

Aw man, that sucks. Besides pressing the center for the 15 seconds to reset, I'm not sure what else you would try. I do wish these devices came with a physical reset button as well. See if you can chat with customer support to come up with a solution? They've always been great for me, though I've only had to chat about missing orders, not products that aren't working. Good luck!

Hey DaveDerrick,

My apologies for the delays. We appreciate your efforts - could you tell us where and when you purchased the device? Also, it looks like the photo was not uploaded properly because I'm getting a message that there's no photo to show.

By the way, kudos to bigskydolphin for your response. We'll take note the feedback about the physical reset button.

Keep us posted.

Cheers,

Muddi

Thanks Muddi. I didn't purchase it, it was a gift from Google! The photo got taken down as I removed it. As I thought a physical reset button would have been better, I bought a really inexpensive Gen 1 off eBay 😉 That's working fine now.

Hey DaveDerrick,

My apologies for the delays. Just an added question: what happens when you press the reset button? Also, for how long you've been using the Google Nest Mini?

I'll wait to your response.

Cheers,

Muddi
