URGENT! RECURRENT ISSUE! PLEASE FIX ASAP! THIS IS VERY ANNOYING! PLEASE STOP MESSING UP WHAT'S OK!! THIS WAS FIXED!!

SAME problem described HERE: https://www.googlenestcommunity.com/t5/Speakers-and-Displays/Google-Nest-Mini-play-wrong-songs-and-p...

(you should not LOCK topics, because they can be REUSED!!)

Since YESTERDAY, when i try to play "Discover Weekly" PLAYLIST on Google Nest Mini, it plays something else (an LP, a song, etc, called "Discover" or "Discovery", etc) and DOES NOT PLAY the "Discover Weekly" Playlist!

From almost 6 months i said "Hey Google, Play Discover Weekly PLAYLIST", and all was FINE!

Suddenly, it doesn't play the only playlist called "Discover Weekly" that i have on my profile!

What changed???

I could make it play ONCE again (but ONLY ONE TIME!) saying "Play the Spotify Playlist called Discover Weekly"! But now not even this complex command works!!!

Here are a few ways to rewrite the sentence "This problem makes the Google Nest almost useless to play music," depending on the nuance you want to convey:

More formal:

  • This issue severely limits the Google Nest's functionality as a music player.
  • This problem renders the Google Nest nearly ineffective for playing music.

More emphatic:

  • This problem completely undermines the Google Nest's ability to play music.
  • This issue makes the Google Nest practically worthless for music playback.

More concise:

  • This problem significantly hinders the Google Nest's music playback.
  • This issue almost entirely prevents music on the Google Nest.

Focusing on the user experience:

  • This problem makes it nearly impossible to enjoy music on the Google Nest.
  • This issue greatly impacts the user's ability to listen to music on the Google Nest.

More neutral:

  • This problem significantly affects the Google Nest's music playing capabilities.

work around for routines:
"add Action" > "try adding your own" > Search Spotify for the playlist name "[thenameoftheplaylist]" and play it

This solves the problem of having a routine with the same name as the PLAYLIST??

I have a ROUTINE called "Sleep" that plays a Spotify playlist called "Sleep"!

This worked great!

Priority was ROUTINES -> MUSIC (now, it seems, it's the other way around)

Anyway, i will try to change the routine "code" and i will get back here!

I was wrong about ROUTINES! They work...

The confusion was that the devices started saying what they were doing when executing the routines (which is really annoying!!! and was introduced recently - It was SO NICE to say something and if it was a ROUTINE, it was EXECUTED without ANY feedback from the device) so, when i ask "Hey Google, Sleep" the device responds "Playing the Spotify playlist Sleep" and i thought priority was given to MUSIC instead of the ROUTINE names!

Ok... Still, we have the same problem described in this topic: The music does not play correctly... sometimes it plays a random LP with the Playlist name... sometimes it plays a SONG... if the Playlist has a VERY specific name, it plays it... but that should not be needed (and it wasn't!!!)

ONCE AGAIN - PRIORITIES when executing VOICE commands!

ROUTINES -> PLAYLISTS -> LPS -> SONGS

Is "THAT" simple!!!

The only way I was able to get this to work was in a similar way. I had to do the “create your own” automation instead of selecting the music one (I ALWAYS have the issue when using the music automation.) Then I had to come with an absolutely ridiculous playlist name, one that couldn’t possibly already exist on Spotify, then typed in “shuffle my playlist ridiculousname on Spotify” as the automation.

PRIOR to this bug that’s been around for months now, all I had to say was “MY playlist” in the automation, and it would play regardless of what it was called. As long as I created it, or had it added to my library, I could call it “Sleep” and it would always play that one without grabbing something random from the entire Spotify database.

It’s still incredibly annoying but it seems to be working that way for me, at least for right now until another bug pops up and makes it unusable again.

EXACTLY!!!

THANK YOU!!! Thank you for your feedback!

I will NOT go through all that trouble as a WROAROUND to make music commands WORK the way they should be working (and as they worked in the past!!!)

I don't understand why "all" the users are complaining about this! It's very very annoying!

(every month we have a new BUG, a reintroduced problem, whatever!)

ONCE AGAIN - PRIORITIES when executing VOICE commands!

ROUTINES -> PLAYLISTS -> LPS -> SONGS

Is "THAT" simple!!!

SOLVED (for the SECOND time in a YEAR timeframe!) since 2 days AGO!

Please explain WHAT changes were made on your side, if any!!

NOTE: It's NOT perfect, but now at least, ROUTINES are executed first, then the PERSONAL playlists are searchedSometimes i have to add the word PLAYLIST to get the correct one, but that's the least of my problems (once this was perfect with the order being ROUTINES -> PERSONAL PLAYLISTS -> OTHER PLAYLISTS -> LPS -> SONGS)

I am at work and cannot check. But it's working again!??

I can assure you that it's fixed on my side...

Google Nest Mini FIRMWARE 456944 (I'm on the DEV channel, but that's NOT the issue, because this is the current PREVIEW and PRODUCTION firmware! https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/7365257)

NOTE: Not the PERFECT FIX, but way better than the previous mess! (once again, the music search after a command should be Device ROUTINES -> Spotify PERSONAL playlists -> Spotify PUBLIC playlists -> Spotify LPs -> Spotify SONGS). Currently the "FIX" executes Device ROUTINES -> Spotify playlists -> ? (which, sometimes, requires you to insert the "playlist" keyword to force it to choose the correct playlist)

Another problem is the "feedback"... sometimes it finds the CORRECT playlist, yet it says "playing some music"! or "playing <MUSIC ARTIST NAME>"!!!

I have latest Spotify and latest Google Home Mini firmware. I have the same problem for weeks now. My personal playlists won't play, only via Google Home Minis.

Super frustrating.

I don't understand WHY it's working for some and not others!

Anyway... this has nothing to do with SPOTIFY APP!!!

I say it again and again... you don't need ANY Spotify APP to work with Google Devices! Just need the Spotify account LINKED through the Google Home APP! So... The Spotify APP, SO, etc, are completely irrelevant!
