Google Nest has become an idiot

I've turned off my mics because Google Assistant has become so unreliable in the past few months. We now just use the devices as speakers and manually enter requests into my phone or tablet. We've not been asking for anything new. I was asking to play the same Spotify playlists as every other day, and now it just doesn't understand. It finds a track or an artist with a similar sounding word in the title. How has it Unlearned our voices and the single most repeated commands in our house? Incredibly poor User Experience management. I hope Google saves some money this year by not paying bonuses to the person/ people who manage(s) that product. Omg.

Hi @aptTyler

Unfortunately recently initiating Spotify playlist by voice command or within a routine in the past month or so has become a total nightmare. There are a number of other posts with a lot of replies about this particular problem, but there has been no comment coming back from google on this problem ever being resolved.

I have found that it is possible to get this to work but only in a very limited and totally unsatisfactory way. This entails renaming the playlist or lists to a word that cannot be construed as anything else, but it is VERY VERY difficult to find such words and takes a lot of time and testing to find a word or words that work.

I wonder if it is anything to do with the gradual migration over to Gemini  within the Google Assistant but this may have nothing to do with it.

The software is a complete joke and Google has allowed this to get worse and worse without any type of care or interest to its customers. These devices act totally thick now and always seem to have a hearing issue it’s bloody annoying. It’s about time Google pulled their finger out and completely refreshed and updated the software instead of taking more and more services away from it

I am SO glad to read and hear that I’m not the only one. I thought I was going nuts, I’ve had the same automation morning-alarm with Google for years, never an issue, and then recently in the last few months it’s just gone rogue. No change from me, just nothing works. Even when I ask re the weather, sometimes it stops replying midway through a sentence or just isn’t understanding the question entirely. It’s so frustrating and sorry to hear others are experiencing it, but at least I’m not going mad!
