Google Nest hub Max

The camera in my Nest hub max has just stopped working. Its only 6 months old. I have followed all of the help instructions both here and on the internet with no luck. I just get a message that says the camera is disabled on this device. It used to work - I set it up successfully when I bought it. Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi LynB28,

Thanks for posting here in the Google Nest Community.

I know how it feels when something isn’t working as it should. Could you check if the Privacy mode is enabled by toggling the mute switch on the back of the Google Nest Hub Max to the right? You can also try to swipe up and turn On the camera by tapping the camera icon. Rebooting your Nest Hub Max  to refresh the device can also help. If all these did not help, you can do a factory data reset to put it back to its default settings. Check the steps below for guidance.

Before you reset the device

  1. Save important footage from the device’s video history.
  2. Make sure the device is plugged into a tested and functional power source.
  3. Remove the device from the Google Home app.
    • Open the Google Home app .
    • Tap and hold the device's tile.
  4. Tap Settings and then  Remove device and then Remove.

Reset the device

  1. At the back of the device, press and hold (long press) both volume buttons for about 10 seconds.
  2. To signal the start of the factory reset process, Google Assistant plays a sound.
  3. Setup Nest Hub Max.

Let me know how it goes.

Thanks,

Juni
