I just purchased a google nest and was excited to try Interpreter mode. However, the translation is only ever from English to another language. It won't translate back and forth between two speakers (languages) as is described in the support information.
2. On a Smart Display, you’ll both see and hear the translated conversation.
Even if I ask it to translate from Spanish to English, it will still only translate from English to Spanish. I have tried with a number of different languages, and different native speakers, and it is always the same. Does anyone know how I can enable back and forth translation?

Must admit I never tried it but did you check out THIS website?

Thanks for your reply. I have looked at that website before and followed the directions, but every time I try, the interpreter mode only translates from English.

Hi folks,
@RXShorty, thank you for the help and the correct link you provided.
@ vonbodungenp, I know how it feels if something’s not going the way it should but let’s take a look at this since translating/interpreting from English to other languages work and it should also work the other way around.
By the way, what are the exact commands you have given? Could you specify which Google Home/Nest devices work with interpreter mode? Also, articulate the words and limit extra noise so the device can determine which language is being spoken. If you’re translating between two languages that share words, your device may not be able to tell which language you’re speaking.
Open this link again and follow the instructions on how to disable and re-enable interpreter mode.
Keep me posted.
Regards,
Dan

Hey Crusty_OO7,
Did you have a chance to visit the shared link above? When you're using the interpreter mode, you can only use one language at a time. You need to stop the interpreter mode first so that you can use a different language.
Keep us posted.
Thanks,
Alex
