Google Nest will not connect to wifi, no matter what!

Hiya,

I’ve recently moved house and so am trying to connect my Nest Mini to my new wifi (HyperOptic). I’ve been trying for a week and still really struggling - will note down all the attempts I have done below to try and connect this, really appreciate any help!

- I have factory reset the device (a few times)

- I have deleted the device from my previous “home” on the Google home app

- I have turned the router on and off again

- I have connected to the speaker as my “wifi”, gotten a step further, the wifi will say “connected” and then ask me to reconnect to my actual wifi, and when I do the app will say “something went wrong, try again”

- I have moved the device RIGHT next to the router, so definitely within 4-6 meters

- updated my phone to the latest IOS

- updated my app (Google home) to the latest version

- password is correct

- I don’t have a dual band router so can’t try different options unfortunately

I’ve basically followed every step in the troubleshooting guide and nothing is helping 😞

I also have a Google nest hub (not sure which gen but can check if necessary!) that is having the same issue - I haven’t tried as hard with that one as I’d like to sort one Google product before attempting the second, though I’m having the same “failed to connect to wifi” issue on that!

Hi SSDJ,

Thanks for posting in the community!

I'm sorry to hear that your Google Nest Mini isn't connecting to your new WiFi network. Don't worry; I'm here to help! Just to get started, I'd like to confirm some details with you. Can you please help me answer the next questions?

  • Is your Google Nest Mini a first or second generation?
  • Where are you located?
  • Where's the device placed? (Examples: by itself, up against the wall, next to a TV or audio speaker, next to a microwave, etc.)
  • Do you have another available WiFi network with a similar name?
  • Are there any other networking devices on the network aside from the wireless router, such as an extender, repeater, or another access point?
  • What's the Google Nest Mini's firmware version?
  • Have you tried setting up the device using a different phone or tablet?
  • What network band are you using?

In the meantime, if you have more questions for me, feel free to reply to this post. I'll be happy to assist further!

Best regards,

Nery.
