Google Next 2nd gen green/black/lines on display

Hi,

My Google 2nd gen shows a strange mostly black screen with a dark green area that contains black lines.  We went on vacation; this is what we came back to.  Yes, I've tried all the tricks:  unplugged 11x, unplugged device as well as cord to outlet, held volume up/down . . . Is it a lost cause?
