Google Speakers won't Stream/Play Media

Hi, over the past week whenever I ask Google Home or any of the Google nest minis, or Google minis to playa podcast or stream a radio station it says "sure, playing x, or streaming x on [device]..." and then nothing. They won't play anything. I unplugged, rebooted and factory reset all of them and couldn't fix the problem. Anybody have a clue what might work? Thanks.

I've had the same asking for BBC Radio 6 music. I have my default speaker for audio of three devices in my kitchen as a speaker group containing all three. Normally I get a reply saying "playing BBC radio 6 music on Kitchen Diner" but recently it has just been saying "playing BBC radio 6 music" and then nothing.

Hello folks,

Thanks for reaching out to Google Nest Community.

We're sorry to hear that you're experiencing this with your devices. Can someone provide a short video clip of the exact response of your Google Nest speakers after you try asking it to play music?

Also, please provide the cast firmware version of your speakers.

Check the firmware version of your speaker or display

To check which firmware version you're on, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Google Home app Google Home app.
  2. Tap and hold your device's tile.
  3. Tap Settings and then Device information.
  4. Under "Technical information," check for Cast firmware: "X.XXX.XXXXX." If the device is on Fuchsia, check for System firmware version: "X.XXXXXXXX.X.XXXXXXX".

Check the version on your Nest display

  1.  Swipe up from the bottom of the display screen.
  2. Tap Settings and then About device. You should find your "Cast firmware version."
    • For Nest Hub (1st gen) and Nest Hub Max: If “Fuchsia Version” is also listed, this means your device runs Fuchsia.

Looking forward to your response.

Best,

Princess
