Google doesn't Play what I ask for!

All of my Google devices (Google Nest Hub Max Display & 5 Google Minis) often won't play the song I request!
Example, "Hey google, play the song I Love you by Sarah McLachlan".

Response:  "Okay, playing on YouTube music, Love to Love You Baby".

Second attempt, "Okay, playing albums by Sarah McLachlan on YouTube Music"

WHAT!? 🤦‍♀️ Albums NOoo! 🤷‍♀️

Obviously I have a paid membership with YouTube Music, formerly google music.

I preferred Google Music but was then forced into YT Music membership. 😣🙄

All of my google speakers are linked to the same account.
Google just plays any random song instead of what I asked for!  This happens ALL TOO OFTEN!

I SPEAK CLEARLY AND ENUNCIATE CLEARLY!

Every time this happens, it leads me to believe I have the wrong song title, or wrong artist but when I google the info....I'm NOT wrong!

SOooo Frustrating!

I have the same issue. No one at Google cares. For some reason Google is happy with the assistant being a constant frustration --a constant mockery of itself.

It's unfortunate Google chooses to invest billions in more new products without investing in fixing the products already available.

Imo, that kind of business thinking leads to less and less REPEAT buyers.

If Google loses customer trust in the quality of the products they're producing....WHO will be the repeat buyers?

NOT Me! 🙁

***Also I posted this because curious to see how many "Kudos" people with this same issue***

This is part of the reason I just cast to devices -- the assistant has lost all of its smarts and it's incredibly frustrating to use. It's like an argument, and half the time it says it can't understand or will just do a google search for what I asked. Disappointing.

😂🤣😂I have too many arguments with mine!!...sometimes pull the plug when it won't listen to commands. 😣

Why can't Google assistant do a 'Google' search when given the artist name and song? 🤷‍♀️

Hello folks,

Thanks for reaching out about the trouble you're having with Google Assistant playing the wrong songs. I understand how frustrating it can be when you can't enjoy your favorite music!

We've put together some troubleshooting steps that might help:

  1. Improve Voice Recognition: Double-check your Voice Match settings in the Google Home app. Sometimes, misinterpretations can happen. Retraining your voice model can improve accuracy.
  2. Specify Song Details: If available, try including details like the album name or year of release in your request. For example, "Hey Google, play 'I Love You' by Sarah McLachlan from the album 'Fumbling Towards Grace.'"
  3. Check Explicit Content Filters: In rare cases, these might be interfering. Ensure "Explicit content filter" is disabled in your YouTube Music settings (if applicable).
  4. Restart Your Devices: A simple restart can sometimes resolve glitches. Briefly unplug your Google Nest Hub Max and Google Minis, then plug them back in.

  • If these steps don't resolve the issue, please reply with more details about the specific songs and artists you're experiencing problems with.
  • You can also report the issue directly through the Google Home app:
    • Open the Google Home app.
    • Tap your profile picture or initials in the top right corner.
    • Go to "Help & Feedback" and then "Send Feedback."
